Excellent job! One tiny nit - . I lay in the lazy grass should be LIE.
I really enjoyed this, partly because I enjoy gardening and just wish I had more time from work to do it. That's the trouble with being self-employed...

Thank you for the "lie" alert" and for reading my work.

Amada, a very descriptive way to to revel in a turn to one's life. Story indirectly centers on a major change in thinking and doing. A bit of sassy reflection as well along with a new sense of pride and accomplishment in the mix... Well done!

Amada...or shall I say..."yard artist?"
I love that term you have graced yourself with.
I enjoyed reading your non-fiction entry. I can
so relate to being in nature and interacting with
nature...appreciating nature.
I thin you did a great job on this and best wishes
in the contest.
Linda
Oh, I forgot...I have a suggestion for your introductory lines:
"These days I wear heavy gloves, a rigger's hat, bold hiking boots, and a macho shovel. This is my gardening equipment. "
I think I would suggest writing......'and carry a macho shovel. *These *are my gardening (instruments)' Just a suggestion;)

Your oxymoron title certainly caught my attention--as did the striking artwork! I admired your analogy to "life" and "a symphony" and am sure you are "stronger and wiser" these days. Best wishes in the non-fiction contest and enjoy being a "yard artist" this weekend- Joan
