The contrast of the beautiful ocean shore meeting the bush land with a steel machinery factory is quite a contrast. The ocean scene is beautiful. Patricia

Thank you. It's a place of stark contrasts and my mother has this sea view from her window every day. Beautiful isn't it? Thanks for the review. PM

It makes me think of pressures, masses and process. Mainly the thermodynamic process of whatever chemicals we're made of running down in the usual universal way. This is just the point of view of a physicist ( I guess) whereas your point is
actually a view of the outback and sea.

The steelworks is an ugly red dusty monstrosity. No byproducts running into the see but red dust from years of iron ore processing. Nowadays there are fans and extractors, the ore is even washed at the mines but the red dust will never go away. The contrast from the steelworks to the sea and the bush are amazing. Thank you for your review. PM

I loved your poem, Anonymous Poet.
Home is where the heart is and no matter where in the world we may go, home is where we always feel safer and more secure.
The photograph is gorgeous, it certainly is a beautiful place--wherever "it" is.

It is a place called Whyalla. It's in the mid north of south Australia near the top of the Eyre Peninsular. It's where I grew up as a happy carefree child. Saltbush literally circles the town and where the town ends it drops off into the sea. The photo I took above is taken from a place called Hummock Hill. You can just see in the foreground a fence of a "gun station" left over from WW11. To the left is the contrast of Aria Steel making company, then the boating marina, where the family of dolphins visit, then the beach. Spectacular as the tide goes out exposing pristine white sand, it equally impressive when the tide comes in and the sea " shelf" becomes evident. I'm not sure how depl it drops off but it's very deep. Sorry, I got carried away with your fedback. Thank you I think I'm due for a trip home! PM

What an eloquent way of contrasting what God has created versus what man has built - one alongside the other. One will last forever, the other might not. Meanwhile, the metal monsters make it possible for you to enjoy the blue paradise. Well done. Wish you the best in the contest.

A very well-written poem about the memories of your home town. Our memories of the old times never fade until we visit our home town again after years and find with shock how much the town changed and not always for the better.

This is so beautiful.
I love the sea always, but this picture brings out the loveliest of all perspectives. The contrast in word and photo make the beauty all the more wondrous.
You made me want to be there, steel machinery or no.

Beautiful description of the shore line. I can feel the passion and nostalgia from your words about this place. The visual you create of the beautiful shoreline with the pipeline create a wonderful contrast. You want to stay... you want to go... It is a dilemma most of us can relate to. Good luck in the contest

I enjoyed reading your work and thinking about the joy of growing up somewhere where it is possible to play in the beauty of nature, without worry or fear.
I also liked the analogy.
Nothing to correct. Nice work.

Thank you for your feedback. It has a reputation these days ( as so many small country towns it is gripped in the hell of drug and alcohol abuse) when I grew up it was one of the safest places ever. We walked everywhere even at night. Everyone played a sport of some description and it was very community minded. I had a wonderful childhood growing up here. PM
