You pose the reader with a question:
Can a one night stand
turn to forever love?
Answer: Generally, not.
However, this is the way you met your man--good for you!
And by the way: me too! (But I did a background check on him before we met. I'd heard about him.)

Smiling, I never thought about a background check at the time. Thank you for commenting on my work.

You married him? That is so super romantic. Sigh. How wonderful. I did enjoy your poem, and I do believe that we can develop feelings for someone that transform to true love as we learn more about them.
Beautiful. I didn't see any errors. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you, Jan, for reviewing my poem. Yes, things worked out great with my "one night stand'. We still dance across
our home hardwood floors (not in the bars anymore) just a lot slower. LOL

I like the realistic feel of this poem of yours, a poem that many people can relate to. There is a loneliness to this that digs deep into the soul. Very nicely done.

Yes, I was very lonely at the time. I was very fortunate that my 'one night stand' turned into a true romance that has lasted 43 great years. We still dance but only slower across our hardwood floors. ;o)

Thank you, Linda, for your kind review. I still don't know why I fell so hard for this man...but we are still dancing after
43 years. He is the sweetest man I have ever known.

Well penned, lusty one! Of course, I assume this was a mere flight of fancy, rather than an expression of lingering prurient desires. (Send a photo.) ð???

Well, Ogden, I must admit this is a true story. I really did meet my husband of 43 years while dancing and we
are still dancing across our hardwood floors. It was a pretty lusty time in my life...still is with this man. ;o)

Beautiful progression, and insight into the "dancers" thoughts and feelings. Love how you took the ending back to the beginning with "Slowly dancing across a hardwood floor" - nice!

So ... you married him ... did it last? I guess that would answer your question. :)

Thank you for sharing this poem. Blessings, Analie

A one night stand is just a preview of what could happen but it is an iffy event. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Thank you, c lucas, for your review of my poem. Yes, I would admit that "one night stands' are not the best way to
meet potential husbands. God was looking out for me and led me to the love of my life.

A very well written poem. I felt you really portrayed the sadness and loneliness of the situation. Well done. Good luck.

Thank you for your review of my poem. Yes, it was a very hard time in my life. I still can't believe I am so fortunate to
have found a man that loves me and tells me so everyday.

I am not sure if a night like you described can turn to love..
But you have certainly set the stage for the possibility..
The flow of your poem was smooth and easy to read..
It created a visual in the readers mind..
Best wishes for a win...

Thank you, Carolyn, for your comments. No, I wouldn't advise someone to meet their husband this way...but it
did happen to me. I did find my soulmate while dancing on a hardwood floor.

Hi Jo
You've got a good entry for the Love Poem contest, although I would bet most one-night stands don't last forever. Enjoy the moment. These days, most marriages don't last forever.
There's just two spots to look over.
"Intoxicating smell of your body"... (I always figure smells are either good food or stinky B.O. ... I'm thinking this would work better,
Intoxicating scent of your body)
"Sun kissed hair and skin" ... (Sun-kissed)
"Locked in (passions) embrace ... (passionate)
Flying high on the wind
Hold on tight to me ... (Hold me tight -or- Hold me close)
I need a lover tonight"

The repeated line at the end is effective.

Good Luck!

cheers
Kimbob
