Hi Annie,
Yesterday was spent prepping and blanching green beans for the freezer. Slowly, it seems, I'm making way through the rows of the garden lol Thanks for the lovely comments.

It's been so fun to see what everyone came up with for their pickle poems! :) Yours turned out great! I really enjoyed reading about the pickles you make from your garden and about all the veggies you've grown. Very well written and fun to read! :)

A very well-written pickle poem. For me it was a real pickle. I first stroke a blank and could not decide how to tackle the pickle topic. You had a great poem with your preserved pickles.

Hi Kim. I enjoyed and still enjoy reading about your Alaskan adventures. So versatile you are. Your poem for this post of Potlatch is terrific, written in this nice form. Good luck in your canning and prep for the coming winter. Marilyn

This is a great attempt at an unusually light-hearted topic. It had my mouth watering as well as I have a penchant for the stuff as well, as you will see when I get around to posting my write. I have to do a few more reviews though first. I enjoyed the trochaic substitution in the second line of the quatrain too. Surprisingly the repeats were not intrusive and it all fitted together very well.

Hi Jim!
I really did have fun with this topic! What's not to love about pickles (well, other than the time it takes for it to all come to fruition lol but well worth the labor of love. Thanks for the wonderful comments! The garden harvest is coming along. Sorry to be so sporadic in replies.

Before I got gouty I liked to try various burgers. Pork burgers. Soy(ugh) burgers. Poultry burgers. Even a Caribou burger and venison burger and bison burger,
As yet no wapiti burger or moose burger or bear burger. I believe you penned an
excellent Chaucer madrigal.

Hi LIJ:
Moose burgers are the bomb! Buffalo burgers run a close second ;)
My husband would eat a Moose burger every day of the week if he could.
Ever try a restaurant called Fuddruckers? They specialize in exotic burgers. Yummy, too!
If you make it back to Alaska you'll have to drop by for a Moose burger. :)
I'll serve up some horseradish dills, too! Thanks for the great review!

Hi Valda!
Cooper had his 1st birthday party last night. His dad grilled burgers and hot dogs - he got jalapeño dills as his reward.
Our youngest - she's 24 now - got the horseradish dills. She texted me last night to say she let her friends try them later that night and her jar is almost empty lol I think that was a hint.
It was sweet relish for 8 yrs old Josh on his hot dogs. Pickles are a family affair lol
Thanks for the awesome comments!

Well, you've done this form proud. I don't think a line failed to be iambic pentameter. And as madrigals seem to be celebratory forms, a thank you to your garden's bounty is wonderfully appropriate, although I know you spent many an hour bringing your goods to fruition. I gave up gardening. I thought I'd do it in my retirement, but we live where it's pretty much impossible to grow things unless it's in a greenhouse, so I frequent our local farmers market so that I, too, can have some pickles and a brew! Hi B.B. Rose!
I spent yesterday prepping and blanching green beans for the freezer. It is a process but is so rewarding during the winter months. The vegetables are like sunshine for the soul in the darker months. Thank you for the wonderful comments. I'm happy that you enjoyed this one!

My, you have been busy, Kim! It's such a wonderful thing if you can grow your own vegetables and then to be able to keep feeding your family from summer's bounty all winter. That is just marvelous! I admire your productive energy and your fun verses on pickles. Looking forward to winter months when we'll hear more from you. Blessings.

Hi Helen!
The lower lying areas got frost last night. Fortunately, we are on a hill. I am about to go out and tackle the rest of the garden. I think it is time to harvest it all before Jack Frost takes it for his own!
More pickles and salsa to come!
Thanks for the awesome comments.

I miss canning. I used to can just about everything.
The first two lines in your second stanza were a little bumpy, or is just me? Excuse me, if it's just me.
I can see him biting that first pickle of the batch. Yummmmm!

Hi Yvonne,
This was such a fun (and for me, timely) topic. Thanks for the opportunity to create a poem to match my harvest activities. There is a trochaic substitution (per Pantygynt's remarks) in the second line of that second stanza, but no one has mentioned it being 'bumpy.' I think I'll keep it lol Iambic meter needs a little twist now and again lol
Thanks for the fun comments and keep up the fantastic topics!
