Yikes! I've been stung by jellyfish - twice - and lived to tell about it. I don't know what kind they were, but obviously not fatal (though at the time, I wished they were. LOL.)

I honestly don't know what to say about this incredible work of art - Mr. Fawcus, you show us how it's done. (No one can miss the shape of the text either, BTW - fantastic free verse/shape poem!)

Very many thanks for your review, Dawn, and the six star award. Much appreciated! I've never been stung by one of these but have been told the pain is excruciating. Tony

Oh, it is - absolutely horrible - the first time. But having been stung once, the second time (seriously) you would rather be dead! LOL. (I can laugh about it now, but I thank God my husband was around - yep, that really is the only relief.)

    You're very welcome, Tony.

All appears calm on the surface, but who knows what lurks beneath. This is a bit of a dark and sinister write that makes me want to steer clear of the ocean. I hope to never encounter one of these "Physalia" creatures.

This is an exceptionally well written free verse poem, Tony. I love your creativity with your "sting" tail. Brilliant and very striking. Excellent alliterations. Terrific title. One can take this write at face value or can also view it as the monster being someone's want to commit suicide by throwing themselves in the ocean to drown.

A masterful write, most worthy of a sixth star! ~ ~ Connie

Hi Tony;
another stunning poem that draws vivid images and takes the mind to another place. I was taken to the sea and the moonlit nights. Thank you so much for sharing this wonder.

WOW! Tony -- this was so entrancing! These descriptions were so cool and so completely different than anything I have seen before about the ocean. I could see it and feel it's salty spray! Thanks!

An alluring poem Tony and this dragged me in, hook line and sinker to the evil and deadly tenticles below.
I appreciated the use of "viridian"...as an artist, I can SEE the colour vividly. I actually have it in my oil paint box haha
It is clearly evident however that the jaw would be far from slack if one of these babies got hold of little ol' me LOL
Glad I live near the river and not the coast LOL
Beautifully scripted mate. You are a talent at free verse as well
Cheers P

Hi Tony,
What a mouthful of wonderful descriptive words.
I applaud your patience and resilience in putting this together,
especially the very clever sting in the tail.
Free verse eludes me but you have created an impressive piece.
:-) Shirley

tfawcus,

Thoughts are expressed and described well. Very reflective, all thoughts are very well described, understandable and comprehensible. Your arrangement here is very creative. Very enchanted flow of words.

There was no SPAG. No room for improvement.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

Wow,this is great! I may never go into the water again. Very great imagery and the way the poem was formatted... With a tail! That was very clever. It kind of looked like a sea creature, and I also liked the picture you paired with it.

Ya see, Tony? That's why I would love to visit Australia but would never--and I do mean, NEVER--swim off their shores.
As if Great Whites sharks and giant jelly fish weren't enough, now I learn they also have Portuguese Man-O'-War swimmin' around out there as well.
Your free verse was exceptionally well written as is all of your poetry. The accompanying presentation is stunning.
In addition, you also managed to shape the poem with a stinger on the end.
Bravo, sir!
~Dean
