What a striking artwork, which also reinforces your message well! I admired your quatrains and your rhyme scheme. Your "wind," "cards" and "path" metaphors are very effective. Cheers- Joan

Such truthful words spoken here and the shame in a lie is not worth telling, we learn that as children and hopefully we can be honest as adults, a poignant write, best wishes, love Dolly x

Very good account of the disillusionment when feeling betrayed with a broken trust, and all that we thought we'd known is gone. "House of cards" was a good description. My preference would be to eliminate the first stanza. The rest of the poem could stand on its own.

What I hate most about lies...they are not only an insult to the intelligence, but they leave you doubting every single experience with the person who lied. Surely, there must have been some truth, some beauty there....but now you have to sort through the trash to find it. This is great. Love the picture, and the song, 'I'm Still Standing'...by Elton John. Blessings....

Irish Rain: yes, I have been doing just that . . . sorting out what few things I know are true and weeding out all the things that were lies. I found very little truth . . . thanks for reading and commenting. Linda

At least you're out of it now, thank goodness. It will be awhile, but one day he'll be the dust you see behind you...

Oooowee! Very impressive! So much wisdom and smarts in these few words. *smile* Just goes to show once more how perceptive you are. haha! My favorite lines are the closing ones. Beautiful!

Thank you Robyn! Whenever Kathy would throw me some lies, I would always remind her that, "I'm not STUPID. Do not underestimate me." Anyway, it is all gone now. Linda

I like the rhyme scheme, and the imagery is beautiful. I like the last two lines the best, "hollow words with empty meanings echo endlessly." It flows nice, and I like your conclusion about hollow words. It would be nice to know more about who or whom you are talking about. It sounds like you have an axe to grind, but I have no idea at who. If I were to change anything about this poem, I would give some examples of who you are aiming this at in your commentary. I like the artwork and title of the piece. Thank you for sharing.
Take care, Jesse

Thank you for reading, Jesse. It is unimportant to tell about whom I am speaking and more about the circumstances. The poem is about lies and that I think they are worthless and cause more problems than the ugliest truth. Linda

Yes, when someone lies, it can seem worthless. Why they lie can sometimes be just as important as the lie itself.

A well written poem of truth and lies. Man is not perfect, we have all walked on the dark side and mostly, found that lies makes us nothing at all. Jesus said "know the truth and the truth shall set you free." XXK.

There is something pure and clean about honesty, and just the opposite about dishonesty. Your words present this very well.

Thank you for this honest posting.
