I have to say friend, you did an excellent job of bringing Miss Greta Grief to life and giving her a purpose and reason to exist. She grieves for all of us, all of the time and you did it in rhyme... very nice! Good luck

There is an occupation called a 'professional mourner', and evidently this is a growing industry. Your poem is very sad and a great contest entry, I wish you luck, love Dolly x

I have heard of people actually paid to mourn, but have never seen one. Thank you for your very kind praise of "Greta." Rod

Although sad, very good poem. I liked the metaphors used her and the imagery displayed. Last stanza very sad-to lose someone is hard to overcome. Thank you for sharing and good luck on the contest

Good luck with your prompt entry. There are such people that wine and dine on sorrow. Remember Queen Victoria after Prince Albert's death? She wore widow's weeds for the rest of her life, in black. How sad to throw one's life away on death. Your quatrains were well written and told a great story/poem about Greta Grief. Of course Miss Greta had no living friends, when you cling to death, death clings to you. Well done XXK.

I am trying to review from a tablet, please forgive my stylus typing. This seems to me like an excellent response to the contest prompt. Losing
Loved ones in war creates chronic mourners.

A very well-written poem. We have to grief for a time when loved one dies. But there is always a time to end the grieving period and carry on with normal life.

I love this I am so sad I missed this contest I think thi really nails the personification of grief. Do you know in Japan many people hire mourners to cry at their funerals? Also they pay to be buried with someone else as their husband or wife regardless of relation to each other 'for company'. A very strange custom indeed. Anyway I adored this poem and it's a winner for me! Kindest regards Meia xx

Thank you so much for your wonderful praise of "Greta." I did not know any of these facts about Japan. So pleased you enjoyed meeting Greta. I think she would smile at that bright gold star.

I love this. Especially your perfect rhyme and rhythm. I love the personification you came up with foe being a sad lady. Giving the emotion a name was so special, I thought. Enjoyed this one! Drew
