This chapter brought back memories of pillow talk and happy mornings. Thank you. Veronica has a real problem here, how to find Joe and persuade him to go back to his own time and deal with Sir John. The Albino child must be saved and James has a plan how it can be done. I didn't see any nits Sandra. Good job. Nancy

    It's easy to call on sweet memories when writing, isn't it, as is the sad ones. I like to leave the sad ones alone, they were hard when I was living them, but they are needed as well. :( I'm just so pleased I brought back some of your happiest ones, dear Nancy. Veronica is working on the albino child now, which in a round-about-way will help her own son. Thank you, my friend, for another lovely review! Big hugs. Sandra xxxx

Hi Sandra;

this is an intriguing idea that James has about the paper written about the missionary. It will be wonderful if it was written before 1846-giving it credence.

The included romance in this chapter was well placed and gave us a sense of the love Victoria and James share.

I didn't see any nits or SPAG.

Thank you for sharing and I'm looking forward to more,

~patty~

I held my breath when I reached the passage below. Not only were the descriptions perfect, evocative, vivid, but like any mother I shared the same fears: What if it turned out to be a complete stranger in your own child?

Excellent writing as always, Sandra.

I pulled my chair up to Michael's high chair and studied his face. Was I about to talk to Michael or a complete stranger? The thought that my precious son might not even be able to hear me made me inwardly squirm. "Now, my little man ... I know what's going on in that head of yours, so you can't fool me." I stopped as his mouth opened and braced myself for the threatened tantrum. "And you needn't start that again, either, or you won't get any chocolate for the rest of the week." His mouth closed, but the look he gave me almost made me laugh out loud. Michael sullenly looked from me to Mildred, then over to his father, and not getting any sympathy from either of them, he eventually dropped his disgruntled gaze to his empty high-chair tray as if hoping to find some comfort there.

    Thank you so much, my friend. It's a nightmare for Veronica, one she is having difficulty in accepting. But, she has no choice so she has to find a way to help Joe. Big hugs. :) Sandra xx

Wonderful, Sandra. I was holding my breath as well. How would Michael talk and react after the night before. And how lucky Veronica is to have James. How many husbands or wives would understand and accept the time travelling, let alone helping out the problems involved. I love it. Big hugs from a cool Costa Blanca. Ulla xxx

Maybe just my nasty brain but at first glance I thought
"and with a big, hard-done-by sigh,"
said
'a big hard on by'
which would be appropriate for his reaction but made me giggle along with Veronica, - although for a slightly different reason. It might be something you want to take a look at. The rest is a good furthering of the conundrum and some possible responses. The character revelations -through their back and forth questioning, dialogue and reactions - is also good since I didn't know them from the previous book. Waiting for the next installment. - Wendy
