Well that was an interesting little life lesson that I too was unaware of. Wow, what a shock that must have been, especially after a heard day. Good description of this incident.

Yes I know this life well, I've been to Venice and been dealt the abrupt manner you talk of! This same applies to other European cities where busy life makes people short tempered. You brought back some memories with your write, love Dolly x

    It's not paired well with a romantic idea! Travel with the Airforce was ripe for good and bad. I often had to fly with the boys alone, and had other true negative experiences while relocating across 'the pond'. Thanks so much for your kind review

Oh my Lord! So, did you managed to get a water taxi that night after all? It was extremely rude of these people to push and shove everyone aside. Yes, I guess, it smothered your perfect impression of Italy. I was there for two months years ago and loved it. Italians are a bit loud, bizarre but interesting people. And the country is a dream!

Never have been to Venice, though.

I enjoyed your narrative very, very much. I could tell it came from experience (smile). Looking forward to reading more of your work.

    Hi ytbard! Thanks for your super supportive review. Yes, we finally we got a taxi, and staggered into a hotel! It happens all over, but romantic was NOT the word I was thinking! If you wish to see more of my narratives, I wrote 'Snowstorm' a few days ago.
    Both are true stories.

Okay Trish, I did finally read your new post/True Story Contest entry. What a situation and Oh my goodness. That must have been a nightmare for all of you, especially your children and yet to add to the nightmare you all could not speak the language. I am so sorry that you went through that but at least you actually went to Italy. Most of us could only dream of going there. Thank you for sharing this extremely well written true story. It stayed interesting through out the story and I experienced the dilemma with you by reading it.

I am so sorry that you went through this. I hope the rest of this trip went well. Afterall it was a three year assignment.

I truly do appreciate your review. Yes we were lucky to have lived there three years. I learned Italian, which was challenging, but rewarding.
