Yes, I like this one. There's nothing like a dog belly up by the pool. You ought to win just by using Chihuahua in a 5-7-5. Amazing!
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you, Mike, for your review and encouragement. Yes, I love using Chihuahua in these small poems. Thanks also for wishing me luck in the contest.

It's definitely not a dog's life. The guy seems to be having the time of his life.
This brought a smile to my lips, which is always good.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Maria, for your review and for wishing me luck in the contest. I am glad my poem made you smile.

Great poem and image...very funny and endearing. Haiku isn't easy to write since you have to convey a message and feelings in just a few words. This was very well done.

What fun! You've paired the perfect image with your cleverly worded haiku. They certainly provide a never ending source of amusement and inspiration--these pets who become family--to their human companions, don't they?
Best of luck with your contest,

Yes, PF, these pets become family. My niece, an art teacher vacation in Sayulita, Mexico last week with my Chihuahua, Mina, composed the picture by giving Mina tummy rubs for twenty minutes to coax her to hold the pose for the shot.
Thank you for your encouraging review of my poem which placed third in the Summer Poetry Contest on Monday.

Mina is adorable! Mine is a 65lb Husky-Shepherd mix I rescued from one of the fly-in communities I work in. Her name is Nuttah (New-ta) which (I was told by an Elder) is a traditional Ojibwe name which loosely translates to "young girl who steals your heart." And, that she did!
Congratulations on placing in the contest!

Summer dog day, it may be, but the blue and white colours bring out the best of poolside.
Around the edges of the pool, an almost tangible cool shade, while she pool surface mirrors the trees and the light coming from the sun.

Thank you, apky, for your review of my haiku which just placed third in the Summer Poetry contest. My niece, an art teacher vacationing with my dog Mina in Sayulita, Mexico last week, coaxed Mina with tummy rubs for twenty minutes to get her to hold the pose for the shot.

Funny poem that shows even animals can enjoy the sun. It also shows the vanity of humans trying to get the best tan.
Hope you did well in the contest.
Keep writing.

Every dog has it's day? This is adorable! That you would pick a dog not a human, soaking up sun. I especially liked "belly up poolside". The picture is worth a thousand words. Haiku -wise, you have two proper interconnected lines of concrete imagery and a satori, all by the book.
A very unique submission, should do well in the contest.

Oh, thank you, Yelena, for your generous six star review and for organizing this contest where my poem placed third. My niece, an art teacher vacationing with my dog Mina in Sayulita, Mexico last week, coaxed Mina with tummy rubs for twenty minutes to get her to hold the pose for the shot.

Fred (Dad's cattle dog) is drooling as he looks at this picture.
I love the picture. This creates a very good mental picture.
I'm a dog-person, so I really like this entry.
Good luck in the contest

Oh, thank you, Trumby, for your review of my poem which placed third in the Summer Poetry Contest. I am glad Fred drools over this picture that my niece took of my Chihuahua, Mina, in Sayulita, Mexico last week.

What a great haiku about the 'dog days' of summer. Your presentation and words go far in describing the happiness of the little dog lying on his back and soaking in the 'rays. Well done and good luck in the contest,

Hi Andre; I'm so glad this poem placed - it would've been better if it won; I did my part. But, I'm glad you did receive recognition for this well presented, well written haiku,

Thanks. One vote separated second place. One more day of voting and my poem would likely have placed second. Thanks for the support.

Hahahaha! G'day Anon.
What a great little contest entry and that picture of the little pooch is a crack up.
I like the imagination in this piece and it should do well in the contest, for which I wish you the best of luck.
Great job.
Cheers Fez

Oh, thank you very much, Fez, not only for your review of my haiku which placed third in the Summer Poetry Contest on Monday, but for encouraging me with my last Haiku Club Challenge post to submit these small poems to contests. Your advice worked and I am thrilled at placing third with this poem and winning member dollars! Thanks again for your review and advice.
