A good entry for the 'minute' poem contest.
Your poem says it all, too many people get bogged down with financial stress of Christmas and forget to feel it's joy.
Good luck to you with your entry in the competition.

Thanks for contest luck wish. The older I get, the more I think of the depression rates rising during this season. Not everyone has love etc.
Thanks so much for this great review

I enjoyed reading your minute poem "Christmas Heart." You had the correct number of lines and syllables for this genre except in the last line where I counted five. You may wish to review this.
All the best.

You are most welcome. I was taught from an early age that is if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.

Christmas... a time of joy and happiness is also commercialized. A time that was meant to place the birth of Christ our Lord is now in the hands of Santa the bringer of toys to children all over the world. Well I believe that love is the bringer of joy and happiness. Santa Claus is to the businessmen their god. Yet, the world has given S.C. life and children love him. All we can do is tell them the truth. It's a good poem sharing your feelings and telling it.

Trish, this poem is touching and I agree so much with it's content. You have so brilliantly expressed what some or most people feel regularly during this time of the year. When I was younger and not following my faith, I felt every single thing that you have mentioned above. We do have so much in common, my friend.

No, I don't celebrate Christmas but sometimes I just don't understand why any one does. It is true that it is a time when the families come together but the true meaning of it all, it's origin is what concerns me. The stores make out very well these times of the year. Sometimes I feel that this is what the holidays are really all about. I am sorry I don't mean to offend you. But... I just want to explain myself.

As a parent I never wanted to teach my children a lie. I never understood giving credit to some big fat man, flying through the skies on a sleigh with reindeer pulling it along and elves that help to build all the toys. Then he goes down chimneys all night, leaving toys that parents really bought with their hard earned money. I would not live with this lie and I was always grateful that my parents did not lie to me about anything, at all. I believe this whole holiday is based on a big lie. Jesus did not have anything to do with a lie...ever. In fact, he stated in John 8:44 that Satan is the father of the lie. So we side with him when we side with a lie. Hey, don't blame me, Jesus really said this, read that scripture and you will see.

I agree though about the debt, the sadness and the loneliness for some. I also remember the drug deals.

I love it dearly and it works for Christmas. Please check the rules, I am afraid you may be disqualified and I now a lot of reviews will be not good because the rhyming is off. One line of 8 syllables and three of four. One and two rhyme and three and four rhyme.
