Patty, This is a very well written poem dedicated to all the little ones that their daddy never came home. You used great wording that goes so well with the picture. Blessings, Teri

It was a very nice thing to do my friend!

This poem tell the reader that the dad must have died in the war. That has to be hard on a child. I can only imagine.
Nice artwork. The image shown supports the poem. The background goes well with the picture and color of font chosen.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your future writing.

This poem has a particularly nice sentiment to it. Would that more of us had such a memory to cling to.
It's a shame that the nickname he gave you is one you don't care for. Like any good story, this one has a beginning, middle and end.
Well done.

Hi; I'm a little confused - there was no nickname in this story - nor was it a story - this is a poem.
Who is Bill?
~patty~
-
Hi Patty! Sorry about the confusion.
I thought when your Dad said, ?. . . about being a good little bug . . . ,? I thought it was a nickname for you.
I looked at your poem as the vehicle for a story.
Bill Cook is me, my real name. It sounds so plain. I thought a pen name would be better.

oh -- did you mean to give it a four star? Your review sounded as if you liked it,

I skip over many poems. I liked this one. I think I was having trouble staying awake that night. A review should be done under better conditions. I'm sorry.
I hope to avoid having that happen again.
This poem should have been given 5 stars.

Hi Marv; thanks for letting me know. I now feel much better about the whole thing. It happens to all of us when we try to read longer than we should

A very well written poem. It flows very smoothly and was a delight to read, apart from the end verse. It's extremely sad that this happens to children now, and some don't even get to say goodbye.

Oh my goodness Patty. What a way to describe that photo. You took it to a whole new level. What an amazing dedication to the children who have lost their dads to the wars and military.
This poem is so realistic and full of soul. It is also full of the emotion that a child or anyone feels sittin at that lake wishing for the special times they will not have again until the finally giving up to the loss. Bravo...applause...applause...applause.

Hi Tier; thank you so much for the high accolades on this piece. I was inspired by the scene of a child sitting all alone on the dock fishing and it went from there.
I greatly appreciate your kind words of encouragement and the shining sixth star - this piece came straight from the heart,

Sad, poignant, and all too common experience. We too often forget the families destroyed by these senseless wars. Not "we" but "they" ... including all who would vote to send troops into a country far away for a fight that is none of our business. I think every Congressperson who supports such bloody battles should be required to send one of his/her own children. That might make them think twice.

The connection to fishing from you dad is one of those memories passed down by a loved one. This one happened to be your dad teaching you how to fish. Cheerfully, I'm happy to hear a positive memory of a dad. I hear and see these days much about ways to belittle the man as if that is the way to solve many of the ills today. I like this poem, Patty.
