A very well crafted story of a real life situation. I liked the tone and the realness of this post. They way you introduced the foster parents, their anticipation, emotion and support for Jenny, and how Jenny felt relief to get her life back after her partner signed over all rights to the child.

The hint of the twist that almost came if Jenny had a girl, was well done.

Wow. This is an interesting story. To learn that Jenny would keep the baby if it was a girl brought me up to speed about what goes on in the world. I did not realize the things a woman has to consider when having a baby. Especially when she gives it away, the hospital staff frowns on her without knowing the circumstances.

Good morning Patty,

This is a beautiful story and I think that it is so wonderful that you have written it for your friend. It is a story that she should have for her memoirs. This bought back those joyous extreme pains that we so enjoy as mothers. (lol) The bringing a new baby into the world was something I fell in love with as I gave birth to my children. You have captured this experience so well and I thank you for these memories.

It is so sad that the staff could not control their disdainful behavior. They are not supposed to allow their personal feelings to get in the way of helping or treating a mother, especially in labor. The very fact that they even allowed her to pick up on that attitude is so disgusting. This world is so full of ugliness, sometimes.

I think that it is so beautiful for any woman to give so this way, it is a total sacrifice. There are many married couples who would make the best parents but cannot have their own children. It takes a really deep and caring person to actually carry their baby to birth and then give them up for adoption to two loving people. I could NEVER have done this myself but I do not look down on those who can.

This story is remarkable Patty.

Hi Tier; thank you so much for the loving and thoughtful review. I'm posting this story as several parts, and I'm purposely not putting them in order because my friend couldn't tell me the whole story in order. The telling came in stops and starts over several days, and I just let her tell me in the way she needed to.

It was extremely emotional, and it does my heart good that she has gone on to have two children she was able to raise herself and know the joy of motherhood - and the gift she gave.

I appreciate your continuing support of my work,

A man's thirty seconds of joy results in a woman's nine months of pain. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read. Good job.

Oh, Patty - what a touching story - you presented it so well - I was there, feeling quite emotional - it brought back such memories. Only half an hour of pushing - my God, I started labour on Friday am and had my first son Monday am - he was five weeks early. The only time I had an epidural was when I had the bottom of my spine removed- the coccyx - but there was great pain afterwards.

Even when it's already arranged, it must have been hard for her to part with her son.

    Hi Margaret;
thank you so much for the thoughtful review. I think saying goodbye to something you've carried under your heart for nine months would have been impossible, but she did it with grace,

This was well written. You rarely hear that side of an adoption birth, nor how the staff regard the 'giving away' mother. I enjoyed this as you read about babies given up for adoption but not both sides. Sincerely Mabaker

What a joyous day for the adoptive mother and a tough day for the biological mother. Very good dialogue and you conveyed the emotions of each character well.

This is a sad story and I can't imagine handing over my baby to someone else after birth, and those who are forced by circumstances to do this have my sympathy, a well-written piece Patty, love Dolly x

Patty,
You did a great job with a sensitive subject. I did enjoy reading it because it was well written. All the details leading to the actual birth were great to include. I have to feel sorry for Jenny. It sounded like a real ordeal for her & I was angry about the treatment she received at the hospital by some when they learned the baby was to be adopted. I really like the ending of 'give him to his mother.'

Thanks for sharing. Jan

I very much enjoyed your story. It is wonderfully written and kept me interested in what was coming next. It's a beautifully selfless story. I have so much admiration for women that choose to carry a child with the intent of fulfilling a family that otherwise wouldn't be.
