Thanks for explaining the The Cinquain. Ghosts tend to get lost. Oops, don't go too far down that rabbit hole where Hades is. the red reminds me of that river of fire known as STYX. Not sure there is nothing. Nice work, Mustangpatty, oh, me, what a nickname. maybe I should not wonder how you got that nickname. Curiosity kills the ghost. he --he. BOO-tastic!

This sounds like a person deep in despair feeling there is no way out.
The artwork shows her hidden in spirals. It also looks like a very bad hair day that could lead some to be badly depressed.

Keep writing

Hi there; thank you so much for the lovely review; I was writing about depression, but I like the explanation about a bad hair day,

You are so very welcome, Patty. Sometimes a little levity can lessen depression.

Thanks for sharing this poem, MustangPatty1029. In reading it I could not help but wonder if you're going into a major depression. This poem would tend to indicate so. JW

    Patty,

Speaking as someone who dealt with major depression in the past - please get local profession help asap.

I hate to see any negative happen to ya. JW

no worries - I've lived with the depressions all my life - I'm a diagnosed bipolar and borderline personality disorder. I think it might just be time to tweak my meds - I will be okay - eventually.
Thanks so much for your concern and caring,

Wow! That's so powerful. The title and picture already had my attention. That's great description of despair and depression because it robs us of the value of everything.

You syllable count is certainly on cue for the Cinquain format, Patty.
The topic you've chosen speaks to those addicted to drugs such as cocaine, heroin, crack, and yes, even alcohol.
Dark? Yes...it is a bit dark...but so is addiction.
Good work.

Hi Dean; thank you for the lovely review; though the poem does speak to the issues you discussed, I was speaking of depression which sucks the life right out of you, and leaves you with nothing,

Scary to think that we can take risks , go down a hole and still find nothing. I thins this is an interesting concept and I enjoyed your version of finding nothing instead of a secret treasure chest. Interesting.

Hi Patty. This is a short piece, but it is well worth the six stars I'm giving you. I do not have this ailment and I'm ever grateful for that. However, you have described it well in your poem. Each line progresses logically to the conclusion and the title itself, as you suggest, is a definition. Great job. Marilyn

This is an excellent haunting poem. You have just given me an idea for a short story that I am immediately going to start writing. I will post it soon.

A somewhat pessimistic rabbit hole to fall into. Alice found amazin g things at the the bottom of hers but for you -- nothing. That must have been very disappointing. Is this, as i suspect a descent into the black hole of depression?

Hi Jim; yes, this is most definitely the deep, dark hole of depression - the place I live for now. Thanks for reading,

Great job! For such a little poem a grand imagery emerges and that's not easy to do. You hit the mark of what it invokes from reading very well! I can only pray now that I'll be able to sleep tonight!

Hi Luna; thank you so much for the lovely review of this work. I certainly hope it doesn't disturb your sleep. Although, I do know that living in the hole for too long will leave you sleepless and sad,
