Hello RP. I think you use interesting words in this piece and in your author's notes particularly. "Humans have a 'right' to milk the planet". I see the world as this big old greenhouse and every plant we plant is like putting on a pretty dress and blowing oxygen into our lungs that is sweet and pure. It's not like that though is it? Nearly three million people in New Zealand on an island the size of California, well my friend, all should be so lucky, environmentally speaking. Intriguing write. It makes a mind wander ... good luck xoxo Kiwi

Indeed it does. This is the most relevant theme of our century! Thanks for voicing it so lucidly. The simplicity of this write is powerful--as it is like a subtle metaphor of how we need to live more simply. Well done. Superb presentation with dramatic art choice. Good luck.

Oh Rama Devi! What a pleasant surprise!!
I'm actually not finding proper words to express my thanks, but your positive/encouraging approach is highly laudable. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the same.

History is full of tales of man's inhumanity to man but the lates chapters are couched in some very strange terms and tell of man's sins against the very ground on which he treads and air he breathes. No wonder your planet pleads, but does anyone hear? Is anyone really listening?

I read your author's notes and I agree. You mention the right we have as humans but I feel too often we forget the flip side of a right, the responsibility.
Our planet is pleading with us to be responsible.
I found this to be an important message to share.

Your words are so true. Planet Earth has been taken for granted for so long, we now are seeing the damage we have done. Is it too late I wonder? If we could all work together to save our world, we and the planet would show growth and healing.

The 2-4-2 format certainly doesn't give you much to work with. You were able to fulfill the requirements and still provide a clear message. I particularly liked the use of the word "pleads" , feeling it added emotional power to the words.
Good luck in the contest.

I love the picture!!' It is so cool! I believe that we as people should do whatever we can to help this planet rather than wasting time at eachother's throat. It's short yet witty, and this goes to show that few words can say a lot of big things. Good job with this poem!!

Exactly. I couldn't agree more. Here in the mountains, we are sweltering today in what is usually August heat- doesn't bode well for late summer - may have to break down and buy an air cooler. Hope you are putting your lecturing and writing talents to good use contact the folks in DC. I know I am!

First I am compelled to remark on those notes of yours - GREAT COMMENTARY! And as for the 2-4-2 poem? Your choice of topic is to be commended, the artwork is spectacular, but it's the careful selection of words that pack the real punch - a fabulous package as a whole. Good luck in the contest!

I think living HERE is a right but also a privilege.
The planet's health is just as important and even intertwined with personal one.
Best,
