Yes, I believe everyone has lied at one point. How was dinner? Great! When really it wasn't.

I enjoyed your truthfulness. Thanks for sharing. Some people are born liars. Others never can. Jan

Thanks, Jan. It reminds me of a dinner party I went to when I was pregnant. The hostess served a delicious roast accompanied with rice that was mixed with bean sprouts. There was a stone in my sprouts--I found out when chewing. Crack! You know that 'tooth-broke' sound. I moved the food over to the other side of my mouth. Crack! Again. I ended up with 3 cracked teeth. It cost me a fortune in dentist bills. One tooth was replaced with a crown. To this day, the other two give me trouble.
She asked how the food was.
    "Lovely," I replied.
    Urgh.

Ha, ha. The best quality a person can have is the ability to laugh at himself. I laughed at all your examples, but have to ask about the free facial.
A maniacal laugh escaped her lips. "You're too gay to be a beauty therapist!"---Now it that true? I can't think she would be so open about her sexual preference.
The bit about nothing is for free-- I've learned that too. :-)

    Answer: True.
I swear truth is worse than fiction. I omitted to mention I thought she was 'tripping-out' too.
Seriously, I was frightened and intimidated. To this day, I avoid her place like the plague. Mega-creepy.

Very good. Lying is sometimes necessary just as killing in self-defense is necessary. If it's a matter of your physical, mental, or emotional safety, lying is definitely okay. Killing is allowed only for physical safety. I think I'll change that when I'm elected World Empress. Do I have your vote? :)

It's pretty hard to not lie. When I was a new Christian I resolved never to lie, always endeavour to tell the truth, then a policeman pulled me over...!? I guess we can be conditioned not to lie, as you were by your mum. I remember when raising my girls not to lie, I said,"if you lie and I find out you did, I will punish you severely, but if you admit to it, your punishment will be less" that was tough to judge, but they turned out well, I hated discipline, well done, great story, blessings, Roy

A very well-written piece. Honesty is one of the most important things for me. I tell the truth and never hide anything from either of my two husbands, the first I divorced because he lied and cheated, my second died and I believe he was always telling the truth. If I need to tell a lie to safe myself, I will though.

Yes, we all tell some fibs. Nobody can live with a seriously bad liar.

There are lies and little white lies and we all tell them and yes I have told them in interviews and to my children to stop them from being upset, I made them believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. It seems that little white lies are acceptable? My Dad used to say he'd rather have a thief than a liar, but isn't a thief going to lie? I was always confused by that remark as a kid. I enjoyed your write, full of ironies, just like my reply, love Dolly x

    Thank you, Jax.
Wow! You've been busy. I hope your sales go well. Marketing is a tough nut to crack and I don't have all the answers--if any.
    Best wishes.
