This is really cleverly thoughtout, and you've managed to keep
the words, and both the rhythm and rhyme flowings smoothly throughout.

You must have worked hard on this - well penned, Cindy.

Loved the art work
and what was written
in everyway.
loved the following words
"So the reef's still in place, as of yet there's no wall
Breath held to see if the whale has the gall to build it at all.
Now there's a human in trouble 'cause wouldn't you know it
For his next meal his mind's set on a Canadian poet. "

The disclaimer in your note is read with profound disbelief. Somebody had to do it of course. And it turned out that somebody was you. Single syllable surnames are not recommended if you aspire to the presidency. Only eight presidents out of forty-five have had single-syllable surnames. All can be easily rhymed and thus lampooned.

Polk was a joke,
Pierce could be fierce
Grant a northern plant
Hayes doubts were raised
Taft fairly daft
Ford -- oh my gawd
Push a crush to push
Trump the hump

None appear in the top ten of the best US presidents and three, Pierce, Grant and GW Bush.

The worst of the lot, generally held to be Buchanan doesn't come in for much adverse attention from the poets possible because rhyming Buchanan is not as simple as thyming Trump.

So you probably have only three and a half years left to keep ahead. Go for it.

Thanks. That's kind of funny. I'm afraid I don't know much about American presidents, only the ones I can remember. Trump is fun to thump, figuratively of course.

Haha...a great laugh at the wall building whales expense and you definitely trumped him with this write.
Scary times, I have to say.

Too many itchy trigger fingers on some very dangerous weapons and too many idiot whales in charge that have a volatility threatening to blow their spout at any point.

Nicely done, punchy rhymes and a most enjoyable read.
Yep, coincidental, for sure haha
Cheers P

This is great! I love your author's notes. :P I think you should tweet part of this -- I know that you are limited on Twitter, or put it on FaceBook.

My favorite two stanzas are:
In the oceans of Americite
Lived a big ol' whale with a huge appetite
A clever ol' whale who could spin quite a tale
Whose spouting convinced others without fail.

With a tail that could thump and a trump of a hump
He threatened a lump to all who wouldn't jump (these two lines are my favorite)
When he demanded things done this way or that
And with cronies cleverly placed he grew plenty fat.

Have a good weekend!

Well, no offense though see a real link to your whale tale to a president who has a lot of folks talking...even though your author notes deny any reality to your poetic brainstorm of what a beautiful creature, the whale... as such doesn't even come close to doing justice to this animal mammal... and well, you used an imaginary word. Amercite, trump, build a great wall, and for me see him as a whale with a lot of sharks he has to contend with....and if you were a resident in the US, which I think you are what the last line does secretly reveal, a Canadian...Well, Dear Lady... you just don't know the half of it...And those who have been brainwashed for 8 yrs by a prior President who let so many drug dealers, and just plain criminals in a country that has enough problems of it's own to sort out.

I have been a resident of the US since my birth here over 66 yrs ago...an plenty old enough to realize that not everyone in my homeland accepts like I do the rules that were set in place by its forefathers. And if left to continue, the US, would just wither away to nothing but complete destruction, and if all the wealthy Hollywood lefties would try then to get out of California, if they were ever threatened by illegal immigrants that begins with the letter, I... and trade their citizenship to that of Canadians, it just, might boost your economy...Though, with so many countries thinking let them in, let them in, we won't do checks or even care that much what their intentions are.... countries then, become inconsiderate of their own citizens that were born and raised and trying to live peacefully, and eventually it will be their legacy, that of a haunting reality...no longer a tale of a whale to tell.

This was never intended to be taken seriously, or to offend. I just don't think walls will solve any problems.

Nice poetic telling of Trumps immigration plan that hasn't come to be and it shouldn't. We need to find a way to integrate people and make all illegals legal.
He is spouter of tweets and actions that show he is not up to being president.

Keep writing

Thanks. Yep, that wall would create more problems than it would solve. Deporting nannies and fruit pickers isn't helping anyone.

Brilliant! I don't usually follow the bickering and back stabbing politics..or stupidity..but I had to laugh at this satire. It's like a Saturday NIght Live poem. Great job

Not only is this a fun read, the rhyme and rhythm is excellently done. It flows so nice and has a sing/song style. I truly loved the building of the reef and yet it is not complete.

Are you the Canadian poet? I like the fun banter and the lines full of internal rhymes give the poem a lightness. But of course, the topic is grim and unlike the powerful whale with clear intentions, the person symbolized does not have those qualities and seems a bit out of touch with reality.
