Aww what a beautifully written piece, from the childlike perspective of a dog! I thought I was going to end up crying! But I'm glad Howie was ok! We have two cats that are quite like that! I can't think of anything that needs doing! Thank you for posting! HollyD

Hi Holly; I write a great deal of my stories from the perspective of either Howie or Bernie. It was scary to think about losing Howie, and while he is on the mend now, I'm still worried. Thank you for stopping by to read and review,

I'm glad it wasn't too bad and he's probably home with you already.
For some reason, Brutus always hated wind. Since he was a tiny thing. Don't know why. Then we got Rocky, he was the opposite, nothing bothers him. The first time he stuck his little head out the window of the car and his ears flopped around. I thought, Ah, that is what a dog is supposed to do.

Hi Heidi; thank you so much for dropping by to read and review. Yes, Howie is back home and walking around with the 'cone of shame.' I can actually see Bernie laughing at him!
I bet Rocky looks great with his head out the window!

Man, oh man, Patty.
If something like this happened to any of my three canine companions, I would be beside myself with worry.
Especially Gidget, my Chihuahua and truly my best friend in the world.
Who would even think that a dog could get a hernia? I KNOW Howie lives a sheltered, cozy life, so what could he have been doing that was strenuous enough for that to happen?
Thanks heavens he was okay, and Howie and Bernie could be reunited again, best buds for life.
Great story. I saw nothing that needed correcting.

Hi Dean; thank you for the photo of you and your buddy, Gidget.
The vet said that Howie probably had the hernia when he was born, but it got aggravated and caused the problem. Since Howie's legs are so short, he could have hurt it either jumping up or down from the couch.
Thanks for stopping by to read and review.

Hi, glad it was nothing too serious and Howie made it through. I do wonder what pets think when one disappears for a while or when their owner is gone.

I like this story, complete with a happy ending.
Bernie is an intelligent little pooch. I've got a whole bag of erasers for him if I get the chance.
I like Bernie's description of a cell phone.
Well done.

Hope Howie is hearty and healthy now. You very well penned down Bernie's confusion and concern. Thoroughly enjoyed reading another one of your pet stories. I always look forward to it...Bernie's picture is very cute. Lots of love.

Hi Dolly; thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Both Bernie and Howie are doing well. Howie is still wearing the cone of shame, so he is having a bit of a rough time, but everyone is healthy and happy,

Thank God! I was really worried, as you were, I guess. Poor Bernie. Not knowing what was going wrong, but knowing things weren't right. Dogs are too smart. Love this.

Hi Marla; thank you so much for stopping in to read this latest tale. Yes, I was very worried. I wasn't even on here for two days - I just couldn't read, write or do anything, but worry!
I appreciate your comments and I will take the 'in' out of the sentence,

This is a very sweet write about little Howie. I am glad he is going to be o.k. You always tell these stories so cute. I am always concerned when there is something going on with one of our cats. Great job. Blessings, Teri
