As you write you will find we have as I call them snarky opinionated folks who think we should write a certain way or we use or words to much in certain places. Well we all learn as we go and if then can't show us what they mean in writing then don't worry about those people. Those who care will show you how something should sound, where to add commas or punctuation we missed and so on. They know we are hear to learn and their support is appreciat d.. We are here to help and guide each other as we go along.

I believe that is true, country ranch writer. Also, I was tender as a writer at that point. I'm now beyond many of the errors I was making; however, I still have much to learn and have developed a thicker skin; really, my writing wasn't up to par. I know this, so I'm working differently and getting better results.--at least I'm satisfied with my progress until I'm thrown back into the pit to be ripped apart. But, as I said, my skin is thicker now. Everyone means well. We are a family.

Smiles yeah, I am so glad you have bounced back over time to be wise and thoughtful. I have a problem with spaghetti it follows me like a nightmare always there lurking.i don't have fancy teachings like most on here or fancy schooling degrees. I am a stumbling and bumbling writer hoping to make it just once out in the book writing world where people love to read.

My writing education was looked over as well, but I'm changing that. I also, plan to rewrite a few of my stories, written earlier. The thought of how they were written is nagging at me. I have a better grasp of grammar is the reason for my discomfort.

I said I have a better grasp of my grammar problems which vexes me. Everyone else seems to be doing fine. Maybe in time, if I'm lucky, I will throw you a bone or two. Hahaha!

I appreciate your reviews, Robyn. There is one story you suggest that I should do more to. I nervously started working on part 2 yesterday. So, I value your opinion a lot. Then, as you once told me, I should read works of others which I've been doing while neglecting to write anything of my own. Also, I took time out to work on grammar. But I probably don't remember half of what I learned because time was taken away from much of it. Life's concerns demanded attention. Finally, getting started again with stories writing makes me feel unsure of myself. So, your comment means a lot to me. Because of your words, Robyn, I'm hopeful about this writing journey.

Don't forget that that's what we're here for, too. We can help with a lot of the grammar issues. Funny thing, but when you get corrected often enough on something, I promist you'll remember it! hahaha! It's happened to all of us here. We grow AS we write. Don't be scared or nervous. JUMP IN!

Yes, I believe that, Robyn. You don't need forgiveness when you do your best. Many times the mistakes I make is the only way I find out who the good hearted people are. You helped me at my lowest and confused point. Just continue to be who you are. That's all that matters. Some will like you while others will not. And that's because they are slow. There is no reason for you to feel bad or even ask for forgiveness. You are a wonderful people.

You've encouraged me to write. Something I know I'm not very good at but always admired and enjoyed others writing. I'm so honored that an acclaimed author like yourself don't snub me. It would be understandable if you did. For someone who has not put in the time and work as you have deserved no approval. You are the nicest lady.

When we are new to the site, pbomar, we are not sure what to expect, and, like you, when I first joined, I used to take peoples' comments to heart - but one learns to shrug unkind reviews off, as those that write them aren't experts. It's fine for someone to criticise if they can offer positive suggestions for improvements, which is what the site is all about - to help us learn and improve - and there are some great writers on board who do just that. Don't be discouraged. Write as you feel, in your own style. I do.

When we are new to the site, pbomar, we are not sure what to expect, and, like you, when I first joined, I used to take peoples' comments to heart - but one learns to shrug unkind reviews off, as those that write them aren't experts. It's fine for someone to criticise if they can offer positive suggestions for improvements, which is what the site is all about - to help us learn and improve - and there are some great writers on board who do just that. Don't be discouraged. Write as you feel, in your own style. I do.

I was encouraged when I started a little while ago and the writers saw I did not have the skills for them to judge harshly but the honeymoon was over when I was asked if I can do better in a way that was not mild -- I'm paraphrasing the kind lady. I think she meant well. As a result, I went to work on improving my writing tools instead of story creation. It shocks a person to learn that he is not where he should be. I've recovered and ready to accept criticisms without illusions now.

I had illusions about what I was doing. To improve, I needed what she said. The character comment is minor, and I know how to fix that problem, too. So, I will improve many things about my writing because you guys are so encouraging. Thanks, Spitfire.

Writing and its craft is always an on-going process... for everyone, no matter how good they may think they are. Stretching oneself improves one's writing. Practice and reading there is no substitute for.

Thanks, MelB. I agree; however, I will work harder because there was some truth to what she suggested. I rather not fall asleep at the wheel than completely ignore her and step on the gas. I took a close honest look at what I thought she meant, and I really don't think she meant harm. I have to take my shots like any other person who want to improve their writing. After mulling over the needed corrections, I've gone back to work. I appreciate the support, MelB

I admit I was knocked down a peg or two, but it was fair and right. After pondering the good writing of others, I felt I can do better. The story, she reviewed, really can be much better; in fact, I'm happy for the suggestions. To be thinking below the writing standard of good writing is more of an embarrassment than what she said. So I am doing more reading, practicing on the technique and etc. It was the best thing that happened to me in order to move to the next level. Thanks, Cmelton.

I would comment further on punctuation, which is actually not that bad at all, but I am sure others more qualified have got there before me

Judging myself, I am lagging a bit. I feel I can do better when others are free to give it without compassion. It is my job as a writer to feel if my best has been achieved. It hasn't but I adore you for being supportive. I need that most. Also, are you on Facebook, and what is your full name, Freda?

If you put your writing out for review, you have to expect reviews. And I say this as someone who has been hurt by reviewers, sometimes purposely. I review critically, but try to point out the good, as well. When the person wrote "I would be more interested in you did (vary your sentences)" perhaps you could hear, "The readers might be bored if I use the same type of sentences over and over."
Sometimes people want to be helpful, sometimes not. But only you can make the final decision. Just because someone says "do this" doesn't mean you have to.
This piece has the fewest grammatical mistakes of everything I';ve read of yours. You did well.

Yes, I truly feel people, on the most part, want to help, but they say things that are on the money and I have not reach the level of understanding. So they give it to me straight, and In the end, I am deeply moved.
