A very good poem. Is there any language more beautiful, or filled with more unnecessary letters than French?

"Merci beaucoup."

Holy moly, how does anyone learn how to spell in France?

Very well written, leaving a wealth of imagery in its wake. You've packed a lot in such few words. The art work is absolutely ideal for this story. Good luck with this.

thank you for sharing your one hundred word story inspired by the painting by Renoir. Your story is lovely, and I could see the characters in the painting come to life in my mind's eye.

Such polite society and mutual respect with hope of getting under the covers! If flowers do the trick then the ploy is to be admired, I enjoyed your 100 words story and wish you luck, love Dolly x

Nice story. You captured a very interesting scene here, one I guess most people person would like to have when they are old. Thanks for sharing and have a great day

I think you did a marvellous job with this story, managing to convey entire tapestries by using very few word:

- In dark blue mourning clothes, she'd stroll by my garden every day. (Here, you tell the reader the gender, that she must be widowed or lost someone dear to her, whom she possibly visits every day at the cemetery)

-I arose, brushed damp loam from my knees, and smiled. ( at once we see a passioned gardener...)

Brilliant. Sorry I'm out of sixes; this would have deserved one in my opinion.

Yes indeed, a lonely man gives a lovely woman a rose, hoping she'll return for more . . . of something, heh-heh.
Okay, so the gardener/owner's gesture wasn't an out and out blatant type of flirting. But it was still flirting nonetheless.
Good flash fiction story; tender, yet sublime.

As a fan of the painter, your story made me smile! I have often stood in front of one of his paintings and wondered about the people he paints. Your dialogue was imaginative and sweet. Good luck in the contest!

I, too, love to gaze at Renoir's works. This one was fun to interpret although I only had 100 words to work with. Thanks for sharing.

This 100-word story is a perfect match for the Renoir painting, and I like the way you left it open-ended with the last sentence, "Yes, Monsieur, it's possible." The resultant effect is heartwarming. This brief encounter could be the start of a romance that would fill a full-length novel, with this story as teaser and a print of the painting on the cover. Well done.

You are welcome. You are a good writer, and I am serious about recommending that you consider turning this into a novel. I think it even has film or television series possibilities. -- Mike

Thank you, Mike, for your encouragement. I don't know if I have another novel in me (I've written 5). I do, however, think it might make an interesting regular length story (2500 words). We'll see.

A little period love story.
Based in the innocent times when conversation was measured and the tiniest gesture was greeted with enormity.
Renoir's inspired artwork fits this piece beautifully.
Good luck, I enjoyed it very much : )
