I like the way you describe your writing process in poetic form. The main thing I got personally from your poem (thank you) is to write each day is important. Sometimes I forget that. Well done.

I seem to have this issue every time I sit down to write these days. I have developed a few story lines that folks like to follow, my soul aches to express itself in poetic form, and I need to tell the story in 'Grammy's Memoirs.'

Its always a toss up. I'm currently wresting with a new character, and she is difficult to draw out,

Dear Patty, The picture reminded me of how I sit musing about "What Will I Write Today." The mug represents to me how I sit thinking over a cup of juice or coffee in the morning, and the Journal beneath it looks like a journal that a friend of mine gave me for a present on my birthday. The poem lines not rhyming gives me a sense of your trying to figure things out about what to write and what kind of poem or story you will write, will your poem end up having rhyme or not, and what kinds of stories you will write, what forms they will take, etc. I liked the rhyme of the words "said" and "dread" at the end of your poem, I wonder if it just came out like that accidentally or whether you intended for it to rhyme. Great poem! Dove

Interesting to read about your thought process. It's funny how things come to you, even when you not even thinking. I once wrote down something that came to me on a bus ticket with my eyebrow pencil!! Repeating 'What will I write today?' works well. MaggieF

Hi Patty,

I think this is the looming question for all of us. What original thoughts are bursting within us that must be put down upon that page? I know you will find a magnificent tale to regale us all. These are good words to use if you have writer's block, it would be a helpful technique to just answer the questions you've posed in your poem.

Nice work!

Kim

Hi patty, I'm here to answer your dilemma........nothing! Take the day off LOL
It's fascinating how poets can take a barren seed of thought, and make it flourish. Even writers' block is answered by a contest challenge!
I enjoyed your questions - just ask me when there's no muse!!!!!!!
Happy Hump day
Hugs, Trisha

Good morning, Patty

Excellent rhyme and pace. To me you've captured the quintessential thoughts that any writer experiences as they decide on what they want to express themselves. Enjoyed.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

A poem every single one of us here on F.S will be able to relate too... what indeed! Tick tock, tick tock... a thought followed by an image followed by that all important first word : ) Let the games begin : )

This is a fun, little poem about inspiration and not knowing where it will take us on a daily basis. Your poem is playful and evokes the dilemma of a writer who does not know where to start:

Blinking cursor on a vast white page,
Waiting for a letter, a word, a sentence.
How will I fill the gaping void?
Will it be a poem or a story?
Will it be truth or fiction?

What will I write today?

Well, I am glad you wrote this today. Tomorrow it will be something else.

Thank you for sharing your delightful poem on the writing process.
