Oh YES! Would that not be the best? It's a situation that is out of control, and there simply does not seem to be a solution.

This is an excellent poem - good luck in the contest.

Your haiku is well done, in support of a worthy cause. The killings of these endangered, majestic creatures, for any reason, are unforgivable crimes.

I don't think many would disagree with you on this score, the raping of the earth's resources, including animals, is at epidemic levels. So well done, a great entry to this contest, highlighting a great social issue. Great satori, good luck, blessings, Roy

Poacher extinction would indeed be a great idea. Unlike their prey, these beasts are not an endangered species. There seem to be enough breeding pairs to go on forever.

haiku (nations strive to save) is an extremely well-written piece. Short, succinct and very much to the point. Poachers are both the animals and my enemies. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work.

Dear contest contestant,

17 syllables...SPOT ON!
two grammatically interconnected lines of concrete imagery (whatever that means)...CHECK!
a satori (an a-ha or moment of insight)...CHECK
short/long/short format...CHECK
present tense...CHECK
No caps...well, I suppose the poachers might wear caps...no, I guess not...CHECK!
Minimal punctuation...might have overdone the commas...ah, what the heck...CHECK!
personification allowed...(who are you calling a rhino?!)...CHECK!
no special effects what so ever...nothing special here...except that's a pretty special way to spell 'whatsoever'...CHECK!
two colour presentation (one text, one background)...well, that was easy points!...CHECK!
one illustration...BAAAARRRRRPPPPP!
no author's notes...CHECK!

I guess 11/12 'aint bad. An illustration, this reviewer feels, would have elevated your entry to a higher plane. All the best with the competition.

Monsieur Charlemaine

Wow! What a complete, in-depth remarkable review for my haiku, Antoine Charlemagne. (Sheesh, you have a long name. AC!) Thank you for all your comments, Monsieur. About point #12...most poetry isn't dolled-up with artwork. Unless I missed the pretty pictures Willie S used in his poetry books. The Japanese never used artwork with haiku unless they decided to create haiga, which is poetry imbedded into the artwork. I would like the reader to use their own imagination to envision the words instead of being swayed by the photo. (Unless I write about something that people might not know about and a picture would help.)
Thanks for your 11/12 rating, Charlie Mane. It means a lot to me.
    Appreciative Contest Contestant :-)

Our children's children will probably live in a very different world to us, devoid of some many of the beautiful animals that we see. Wouldn't it be great if 'poachers' became extinct/ MaggieF

I surely hope they can save them. What a horrible thing, to be born into a world that will kill you for your beauty. What is WRONG with people???? Great haiku. Blessings....
