Kids are in such a hurry to grow up that's for sure and I think boys hate school more than girls due to the fact they'd rather be anywhere but school he he.hope all is well with him and you all

This was an interesting piece, it is dated, but it does tell a story about the person. His struggles in school and then in the war. A good poem for anyone who needs incouragement to persist in all walks of life. The writing was done well and sent a very good message.
I saw nothing wrong with it.

Love both your poem and the history behind it. Our sons are all different and need to find their own way. I hope yours found it. This is a heartfelt poem and as you said never sound retreat.

Very encouraging poem! Yes, even a simple rite of passage such as high school graduation can be an arduous trial for some for many reasons. I find it interesting that you say:"With fear and fight and faith, my son." I never would have lumped fear with it but it somehow makes it more real.

Oh, I do hope he made it!! This is lovely. Such a shame that after high-school, which can be a war itself, he had to go to war. My dad did 3 tours in Vietnam. Blessings...

You've written a mighty fine poem.
It's encouraging and gives good advice.
My favorite part: 'Stand firm for what you know is right;
believe you can't be beat;
If doubts prevail then search for help,
but never sound retreat.'- I needed this stanza in on my wall years ago when I was involved in an abusive relationship. I think these words will help just about anyone. GOOD JOB!
I also like the repetition in the last stanza.
The author's notes are very much appreciated. Thank you.
The background color chosen looks good and goes well with the font color.
