This is a very stirring poem. I can hardly imagine what that must have felt like, or what it ever must feel like to be training to go to war. This is a very lovely poem. Respect!

This is a lovely poem dedicated to your son and his achievements in life. Be that at school or in his military career, you wish your son well. Nicely paced, well rhymed. Blessings to you. PM

This poem, Never Sound Retreat, hearkens back to the days of uncertainty in the sixties and entry from childhood into adulthood in the wink of an eye.

If not for the encouragement depicted in your poem, I'd say your son would've always struggled. I enjoyed this offering, and felt the dedication of father to son keenly. Well said! xoxo

I love the inspirational faith filled message that this poem conveys. We can do all things through Christ! An unseen hand was bringing him through. I've enjoyed yet another well written work from you Jaybird. Well done! Keep them coming!

when I saw the year I thought immediately of Vietnam, and then I read your notes--I pray that your son survived the war without scars--your poem is uplifting and has the pride of someone who has himself faced combat. Very enjoyable thank you!
All the Best!

In my opinion, a commanding write in both message and stark presentation, chronicalled in true philosophical fashion, in distinct and wise counsel, for a beloved son - smoothly delivered in rhyming rhythm...
