Thank you for sharing the perfect harvest scene to match your words. Your abundant use of alliteration is very effective. Happy weekend when it arrives- Joan

It reminds me of fall in Ohio where I grew up. It's strange how green fields can quickly turn brown after the first frost.

The black and white picture, with all the clouds, really goes along with the idea in your poem. Winter must be a depressing time for the farmers. They have spare time, as the crops are in. They are concerned about taking care of the animals in extreme winter weather. You mention the daylight dripping away. The added hours of darkness may also make someone depressed. Nice alliteration with fallow fields. That description works so well because there's not much going on in winter. judi

You're welcome. I'm sure you're much younger. I do remember what it was like on the farm. judi

Very nice. Since it is now spring and here in Florida it really feels more like summer, it is refreshing to read about autumn. Very well done.

A haiku about my least favorite time of year--when it grows cold and days are so short. Good image in the first two lines. Strong satori at the end. Well done, my friend~DEbbie

You capture that moment when nothing more remains to be harvested, and the fields seem empty. Only an experienced farmer knows how to appreciate this moment.

I worked the land in Holland for a few years and your poem reminds me of winter's cold chilling touch, the cold beauty of Barron fields after many abundant harvests.
impressive 4-8-3(i like that) haiku Gypsy!

Hello Gypsy,
I can relate to your haiku
sounds like Autumn here in Vermont after harvesting is done (empty) fallowed fields

There is a nice juxtaposition in this poem of light and dark, plenty and little. The verbs drips and creeps give animation to the whole piece.
