While I was reading this lovely poem. I suddenly remembered that my Dad would always trace the sign of the cross on our foreheads before he kissed brothers and me goodnight. Thanks for bringing that memory back for me.
All the best...
Bill~

Hi Bill; my great grandmother used to do that, too. She had a small statue with holy water in it, and she would bless all of us when we left after a visit - I'm glad you recovered your memory, and I'm happy I have mine,

This is very nicely constructed. I like how you have made a cross for each of the three that were crucified and told the story about them. I like your profile photo. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn; thank you for the compliments! I was inspired to write this poem when I came across the form. I conceived of the idea, and then just had to find the right words to build the crosses.

I think you did a great job in this format, and the format really suited the subject matter. You have these short, hammering lines, a rigid, tightly nailed construction, and the images stand in stark relief to each other. I think it really captures a sense of the three souls on those three crosses, One bitter, one giving himself away for all of us, and one who reaches for grace and recieives it. nice one estory

Dear Patty....

Your poem abou Jesus Christ being crucified on the cross between the two theives is a heartbreaking story and to be forever remembered.

He shed his precious blood to pay for our sins, and I for one, am forever grateful and reason for living.

Thank you for keeping the story in remembrance.....

Hi Nan; thank you so much for your kind words. I think His act of complete sacrifice needs to be told over and over. I know I try to keep it at the forefront of my thoughts,

Patty, I love the Trinet Poetry for this faith write, it suits it so perfectly.
"he hung/ to die/ for hours/His hands/His feet
pierced for man's many wicked sins
He died, he rose, he won"
These are great words dear friend, very powerful write.

Thanks for sharing this poem, MustangPatty.

It makes one wonder how it all happened over 2000 years ago. But even more interesting is the fact that if Jesus lived today, he would still probably be put to death. JW

A very well-written Trinet poem. Your crosses seem to be in good shape and the message is great an true. The thieves deserved to be hanged, but the one who asked Him to think of him when He is in Paradise, He took him with.

I read that Roman and Jewish law did not carry the death penalty for theft, and the Empire reserved crucifixion for traitors, rebellious slaves, and repeat offenders, so the two thieves were hard cases...noncanonical books call them Gestas, the unrepentant one, and Dismas... I enjoy faith poems. Excellent work.

Thank you for sharing your timely and symbolic, spiritual poem. It must have taken quite a while to find just the right words to retell the story in the perfect pattern. Best wishes in the contest- Joan
