Haha! Clever, clever! Cute teacup poem gave me a laugh. Well done with perfectly shaped and chosen words. I would recommend this poem to everyone. Good job!

Good morning, Patty....

Re your poem, "A teacup poem--

:::Waiting for tea," your title reminded me of my tea cup Yorkie, "Corky:,": LOL!

I simply loved your poem about the teacup..... I was flabbergasted decades ago when I read about "MUGS" and wondered what had happened to the days when we drank our coffee and tea in cups and saucers

It dismayed me for a long time and I finally gave in and now drink mine out a mug also... (UGH_) insead of a teacup.

You are fortunate you have a son who was thoughtful enough to give you an antique tea cup.. I am certain it is one of your greatest treasures, and I can understand why..

Hi Nan; thank you so much for stopping by and the thoughtful review. I do love my treasured cup, and it just seemed fitting to write the teacup form about my lovely present. Tell Corky that Howie and Bernie say, 'Hi.'

You are welcome, Patty, and so glad I did not divert or take away from the "tea" by referring to my precious Yorkie, Corky, "

I just told him that your precious "Bernie" and "Howie" said to say "Hi," and he is ecstatic he now has two friends to help him whenever "Bandit," my
son's elephant size cat knocks him around,,, his cat like way of thinking he is only playing, LOL!

Good afternoon, Patty

The poem, to me, not only conveyed one of life's simpler pleasures...the drinking of a cup of tea, but the aesthetics of drinking from a beautiful cup.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Hi Ray; thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. Yes, it is much more pleasing to drink from a beautiful cup. The tea just tastes sweeter somehow,

A beautiful teacup and tea plays a huge part in English culture, although I do not drink it myself nowadays, but when I was younger we would enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits. Always in china cups! A memorable write Patty. Love Dolly x

I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece. On a whimsical thought, I wrote a teacup poem about my favorite tea cup. I rarely drink from it, but it holds a prized place in my curio.

She sits so pretty
on her saucer
nice and neat
She waits
Tea
filled to china brim

a simple little poem so well presented, Patty.
I love the old-fashioned t-cups and saucers, and
have a couple of full sets, but everyone seems to
want a mug these days.

Hi Margaret; thank you for stopping by to read my poem about a teacup. I have to admit I rarely drink from my pretty cups and saucers, but I love their shape and elegance.

If you are going to write about a cup of tea it makes sense to write a teacup poem. I imagine that in calling it a "definition" it means that it's shape defines it. Much as a poem with a syllabic count of 3,4,5,6,10 might be called a jelly poem another of a genre of definition poems.

Remember poetry dances is simply made up of selections from Fanstory postings and carries no authority in the real world of poetry.

Hi Jim; I kind of thought that the teacup was a form that had been made up. I couldn't find it in any of my books of poetic forms, but it just felt like a 'shape poem' kind of day. This was a fun little write, and I was able to check it off the list of forms to try. I appreciate your time to read and review,

Mustangpatty,

A cute little number. Short and sweet. The meter count is correct. The theme is nice.
This poem was arranged very well. I like this style although I have never seen it before to my knowledge.

It was a pleasure to read. It's a very clean piece. I saw no typos or SPAG.

The words you chose worked very well.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

Hi Camille; this was such a fun write. On a whim, I wrote a 'teacup form' about a teacup. I came across the form as I was reading one day, and made note of it. As I work through the different poetic forms I've collected, this one was next,

I like that you call the tea cup a she. What a warm feeling this offers your reviewers. A difficult style to craft I'm sure, but you made it look quite easy. Thank you for sharing the awesome photo as well.
God bless!

Hi again, Steve. This was a fun write. On a whim, I decided that if it was a teacup form, I should write about a teacup! I'm glad you enjoyed it,

This teacup poetry brought back memories of my mother's tea etiquette. It had to be in fine bone china, nothing less. Also the show "Keeping up Appearances" with Mrs Bouquet came to mind.
I digress, this is a beautiful cup in the picture. Your poem is perfectly written, a good match for your son's gift .
"nice and neat" is perfect for the status of the cup! Thanks
I'll guess, it was made by Royal Doulton?
