Hi Gypsy,

I like the picture of you and also your name. What you wrote was very nice to
read. You write wonderful things and I always enjoy reading them.

Yes, the freedom of being alone is tested on the holidays. I can remember sitting in a Huddle House on Christmas Eve feeling like a child again, but alone with no where to go and no one to reminisce with. But thank goodness, another couple days and it's all behind us until the next holiday. Thanks for another fine poem. I must admit your gray vision of the day kind of got me. Great job. :-)

I sure it won't bee(ambush predator) long before your new apartment starts to feel more familiar and more like home friend, a new chapter is always exciting : ) HEY, we abandoned our children to have fun at a jazz festival, but we did spoil them before we went and they had a ball at there friends homes. Nice Haibun Gypsy

Gypsy,

This is a really good haibun. I can feel and sense your despondency. I can feel the note of sadness in your words, but can also sense that it's temporary, a moment that comes with the holiday. Very nice. Sending hugs --

Lady Blue,
6-satrs because you posted a photo of you, 6-stars for the prose and intimate look inside your feelings, and 6-stars for the haiku. That's 18-stars! What does that get you?

Holidays are difficult for millions of people. They are for me. I enjoy your poems and glimmers into your POV.

Take care,
Michael

Hello GBR,
With that railway "cemetery" as a view, I can understand
when it gets gloomy and gray on your own.
I'm also a pretty "withdrawn" person and always happy
when the holidays are over and we leave the entire
crowded château full of relatives who've breezed in
from all cornders of Europe and Kenya and get back to the house in Bavaria! :)
Bless,
Apky

I love this Gypsy. That haiku just pulls out the emotions of what the prose says. I especially love the first 2 lines of imagery in the haiku.

First, I gather other people familiar with railroad history will ask how a Baltimore & Ohio locomotive ended up in a Sacramento railyard. Otherwise, it is a good haibun, which makes the reader wonder if the lonely person is perhaps suffering more than she would like to admit, and above all, admit to herself.

Gypsy,
I know that feeling--I had it yesterday. It's over now, phew! Of course, I'm more used to it--I divorced my dysfunctional family years ago--like twenty-five years ago so I've been on my own and alone on holidays longer than you probably. But it still gets me down. It's over and now back to life.
The view is depressing, but it looks haunted--maybe you could become a ghost hunter :P

Well, don't worry, Gypsy because very soon, you and I will be in the "same boat" together, so to speak.
Once I leave Ohio, I will be leaving all of the family I've ever known, loved, and held near and dear to my heart behind.
Will it be worth it?
Yes...I think so.
You've penned quite the melancholy musing here in true haibun form, to be sure.
Hang in there...
