    Hi Valda,

I was just brainstorming on words and came up with this one. I loved scent-sational so much that I had to use it. I don't write much haiku as a normal thing. Thanks for the wonderful comments.

haiku (in spring fashion) is well worded and enjoyable.

Thanks for giving so much explanation as well. I know so little about poetry. You are a great inspiration.

    Hi Marie,

I like to include things in the author's notes that others might not know about the style of the poetry or the inspiration behind it. I like to think that makes the reading a well rounded and fulfilling experiences, both for me in terms of presentation and the reader for enriched knowledge. I appreciate your wonderful comments.

Poem about butterfly and lilac. The beautiful artwork works well with this piece of poetry. This poem has nice flow. Lilacs are beautiful. Thanks foe sharing this piece of poetry.

Dear Kim, Lovely haiku. Beautiful picture too! It goes with our season of Spring. I liked your word "scent-sational", I could practically smell the flowers the butterfly was perched on. Donna

Now that is a satori to die for. Very clever indeed. Everything else is in order too. Your two short lines room for the slightly longer than usual middle line and keep the total within the seventeen syllable maximun.

    Hi Pantygynt:

I don't write haiku often, that one just came out of a little brainstorm session where I was playing with words. I loved the scent-sational line too much to not share it lol Thank you so much for this exceptional rating and review. I appreciate the outstanding comments first thing this morning.

I do love a pun, and this particular aha moment was an ah ha ha moment for me. Lovely picture but not needed as your words painted one on their own. I loved the whole thing actually, not just the ending. - Wendy

LOL! Yes. Scent-sational is a good word for it. Lilacs have one of the sweetest scents of any flower or flowering bush. Beautifully illustrated and your haiku brought a smile. Marilyn

    Hi Marilyn:

I had some fun brainstorming and just couldn't resist posting the result in this haiku. It is a form I rarely write. Thank you for the fantastic comments.

Oh, what a gorgeous picture and a 'sensational' Haiku! I like your version better ... "scent-sensational" ... clever! Tying in the shoes with fashion is also very clever. Love the hues/shoes rhyme. Perfect pairing of artwork and poem. This Haiku is a real winner! Good luck in the contest, Kim! -- Connie

    Hi Connie,

I don't write much haiku, but this came out of a brainstorming session, so I thought I'd run with it. I decided scent-sational just had to be shared lol Thanks for the fantastic comments. :)

fashion? shoes? 'scent-sational'? All of these words fit so nicely in your well-written haiku. Even without a picture, the words would stand alone. Everyone has seen butterflies resting on flowers.

Good job, Kim, on a haiku that is both unique & informative. Who knew butterflies word shoes [only kidding]. Your lines flow smoothly, are connected as required, the syllable count is correct, & the moment in time is captured well.

Thanks for sharing. Jan

    Hi Jan,

It is possible that I've seen that Payless shoe commercial a few too many times this spring lol It all just fell into place with my butterflies. Thanks for the fun comments. I always appreciate hearing what you think.

I hope you are having a happy Easter!

Marvelous work with this Haiku. Knowing Butterflies gather pollen with their feet. I just love the second line, lilac hues grace butterfly shoes. Perfectly connected first two line and a terrific satori. I wish you all the best in this contest.

Hi! I had fun with this one. I think I've seen that Payless shoes commercial where they have to have a new pair of shoes for every spring outfit just one too many times lol I appreciate the fantastic comments.
