This is a good one. Cattail is a strange looking growth. It doesn't have any green on it. I like your satori about this cattail plant. The structure of this haiku is very nice.

Kerry,
I enjoyed your haiku for the book. The art is awesome although your words paint a great picture. Good job with the style of the haiku. I like that you did not stay with only the 5-7-5 syllables. Your syllables make great sense. The satori is perfect & unexpected. Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

This is brilliant, Kerry. I love the picture, it is gorgeous and your Satori is a marvellous aha moment. One of the and I though the colours were great. Best haiku I have read, Giddy

Awesome Artwork/Photo. A whole lot said here in 7-words. "Cattail weeds
on rivers bend-wildlife buffet." I grew up around the Tennessee River. I
remember well, "cutting the cattails, taking them home, then putting them
in an old fruit jar for my mother. Didn't have no fancy glass vase. However,
she watered them down, smiled at me then said, "Oh, my God! Their beautiful
Billy." Well, that swelled my head so big, I almost tripped and fell. And as to
the Wildlife Buffet. I'd set traps for the catfish, catch, "bunches and bunches,"
dress them out, and grandma would fry em up for our supper. A "Salute!" To
the good old days. A commendable post here, Kerry. "Keep on writing em, and
we'll keep on reading em!"

Respectfully,
Bill (Junglefighter)

I must of answered messages before the review. So, I will thank you again for the six stars. I love your story of how you brought them home for Mom, she must of been so proud of her sweet little boy. How very adorable. And how Dad caught the catfish, sounds yummy.lol Thank you.

I admire your ability to be comfortable making your own boundaries. This is revolutionary. Your flow, word choice, theme, and flavor are very enjoyable, easy to read with a mellow aftertaste, and a wonderful image that stayed and warmed my mind.

Blessings,
Brother Badger

Love the cattails and so do the critters. Nicely formed and framed Haiku. Good connection for the first two and the satori strong. I enjoyed the read. - Wendy

That is true. Cattail reeds are a wildlife buffet. I have cattails along the creaks back at home where I witness all sorts of life thriving. Fine haiku, although I suggest using the possessive with an apostrophe for "river's bend."

Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Andre, I appreciate your comments and review, I'll have to add the apostrophe.

This is a very good 3-4-3 haiku poem you have penned for the challenge. You used very good descriptive wording and very good imagery. I love the colors - green and yellow you used! Blessings, Teri

Thank you for sharing your latest haiku for the challenge. The cattails are indeed a weed, but I always loved to collect them. When I was younger, I would shred them and make a mess, but as I grew older, I used them to decorate. Your poem reminded me of how much I love the cattail,
