Several poets have been fired up by Breughel's paintings, who knows why. I am not a fan of most of Auden's work, but he had his bright moments, in some of his less-known works, like O where are you going...looks like a satisfactory Villanelle to me, which is quite an accomplishment.

    Hi LIJ:

I'm happy that you enjoyed my villanelle. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. Truthfully, I've not read a lot of Auden, but coming across these two pieces today just struck a chord and inspired me. :)

Walls exist everywhere, unfortunately. Some make promises to build physical barricades, but achieve their goals by setting up intangible ones. Since you particularly reference technology, we don't have to look far to see how that makes people oblivious to one another - just go anywhere you like, and look around.

You've raised excellent points, Kim, and your experiments with various forms are clearly paying off. Nice job - Craig

    Hi Craig,

I'm always happy when a poem of mine evokes a lengthy and thoughtful response, especially from you. Thank you for the wonderful comments.

    *hugs*
