This one takes a different approach,
and is just as good, maybe even better
in terms of the contest
You've got the beat of the dance in the rhyme and the meter
and the snapping of fingers
this one's the winner
I hope you hear

Hope you don't have to both dance and recite
simultaneously
That would be quite exhausting
but something that would be fun to see.

I was disappointed that last year's poem did not even earn an honorable mention. I took a different approach this year by crafting a poem that is fun and can be danced to. We'll see what the judges have to say this year. Meanwhile, I SING and DANCE my poem around the house.

Yes, Lisa, I am so glad I wrote about my reluctance to get on the dance floor followed by my exuberance. People can relate to my experience. I kept the beat, rhythm, and fun throughout my poem. Thank you for your review.

This poem that is takes some people a lot of prodding to come out of their shell but when they do, watch out. It proves the adage, 'Be careful what you wish/ask for.

Yes, DP, my cousin must have bugged me for an hour before I finally got on the dance floor. Once I did, it was hard to get me off! : ) Thank you for your review. I will keep writing and keep dancing.

Thank you, Thomas, for your encouraging review. I created the poem for the Dancing Poetry Contest in which a group of people dance to the winning poem. Go ahead and enter any contest with or without. Don't remain a wallflower whose head bobs for hours.
