Ha ha....love this. I've NEVER been able to resist dancing. The music always gets me. This is a great entry in this contest, and good luck in the San Francisco contest too!! Blessings...

I remember the poem you had last time for this contest
I thought you would win with that one
It was very good.
This one takes a different approach,
and is just as good, maybe even better
in terms of the contest
You've got the beat of the dance in the rhyme and the meter
and the snapping of fingers
this one's the winner
I hope you hear
Get up and recite
Get up and recite
Hope you don't have to both dance and recite
simultaneously
That would be quite exhausting
but something that would be fun to see.
Best wishes, my friend!

Yes, RS, I hope this year I
Get up and recite
Get up and recite
I was disappointed that last year's poem did not even earn an honorable mention. I took a different approach this year by crafting a poem that is fun and can be danced to. We'll see what the judges have to say this year. Meanwhile, I SING and DANCE my poem around the house.
Thank you for your generous, six star review.

This is a powerful and fun poem which draws the reader in from the beginning with its beat and rhythm. The situation is one which we have all witnessed or one we have taken part in, yet the poem breathes new life into the scene. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Lisa, I am so glad I wrote about my reluctance to get on the dance floor followed by my exuberance. People can relate to my experience. I kept the beat, rhythm, and fun throughout my poem. Thank you for your review.

This poem that is takes some people a lot of prodding to come out of their shell but when they do, watch out. It proves the adage, 'Be careful what you wish/ask for.
Good luck

Yes, DP, my cousin must have bugged me for an hour before I finally got on the dance floor. Once I did, it was hard to get me off! : ) Thank you for your review. I will keep writing and keep dancing.

I so love this, you are so full of life and your description of the ones sitting on the sidelines that you have to coax into to dancing. Once they are out there they become a different , out going person. i wish you luck in your contest. I think it is great.

Oh, thank you, jusylee72, for your encouraging review. My cousin tolerated my finger snapping and head bobbing for an hour before I finally got on the dance floor. Thank you also for wishing me success in the contests.

A great contest entry. Your poem reads like dancing. Lively and fast-paced. I know you will do well. Remind me not to enter a contest that you enter. Dancing or poetry.

Thank you, Thomas, for your encouraging review. I created the poem for the Dancing Poetry Contest in which a group of people dance to the winning poem. Go ahead and enter any contest with or without. Don't remain a wallflower whose head bobs for hours.

A fabulous uplifting and energetic poem with a great message! We ought to dance more often and it brings on laughter and of course it's exercise! An unusual write and I love the chorus: 'Get up and dance'! And since you're asking, I will now get up and dance, love Dolly x

Yes, Dolly, we all need to dance more to lift our spirit and exercise our bodies. I surprised myself this morning by singing and dancing my poem in the shower! Thank you for your review.
