Great metaphor. Superbly written, a warm and fuzzy commentary on one of life's greatest treasures. The image really adds, as there is no snow. Nicely stated, with good contrast. Loved the
"featherbed of love" Warmth . . .

Thank you sincerely Badger, for this lovely review and I looked far and wide for artwork with real snow on the roof but I guess it all must have melted this time of year! All the best and blessings always! Vance

A wonderful memory shared of snow covered cottage with friends nearby.
It paints a warm, homely feel to the community.
Thanks for sharing
Have a great evening

This is very nicely composed. I felt cozy just reading it. The image you chose to accompany your poem is perfect. The featherbed made me feel wrapped in comfort and love. Nicely done. Marilyn

I could certainly liken this to good comfortable friendship dear Vance, friendship and family certainly build a keep around, combine it with the Lord's peace and comfort, and one has a perfect package, the horizontal and the vertical working together...the cross. Well done, blessings, Roy

Grayness,
This is a sweet and insightful poem, and I enjoyed it very much. My only negative comment is in regard to the capitalization of some of the lines. Since it is actually one long sentence, I would not capitalize any of the words after the first line, so that the revised poem would read:
When the snows of friendship
(c)over the cottage of your life
you may sleep always,
(w)armly, in
(y)our featherbed
(o)f love
Just a thought. Thanks for sharing!

Your poem about your experience with your cottage that reflected peace and love reminded me of when I spent a few years in Big Bear Lake (Boulder Bay) overlooking the beautiful peaceful view.... My condo was opposite the ski lift and the Jacuzzi was a few feet from my front door.
Re your poem....
When the snows of friendship
Cover the cottage of your life
you may sleep always,
Warmly, in
Your featherbed
Of love
Great imagery and your referring to the cottage as when the snows of friendship
cover the cottage of ones life -- he or she may sleep always, "Warmly," in ones bed with the feel of soft warm feathers of love embracing the person.
Although I never had a feathered, but slept in one when I was in Finland.... My little precious Yyorky, "Corky," serves me equally well sicne he cuddles close and never leaves my side -- in or out of bed....
A very comforting read, Vance....at least that is the way it effected me.......
Thank you for sharing it..Nan:))

Thanks Nan for this lovely review and sharing your memories too. I also sleep with my little "Teacup" Yorkie "Bitsy" as she is on extended duty from Heaven, here as my personal GUARDIAN ANGEL, and she takes it seriously. I AM TRULY BLESSED! Vance

Oh, Vance.... How wonderful.....If only more people shared your view as I copied it below...

I feel the same way about my little Yorkie, "Corky".....so that makes both of us "Truly Blessed."

believe me Nan, it is true, I'm certain as nothing else could explain her behavior nor my elevated and virtually CONSTANT STATE OF GRATITUDE! Vance

A very well-written poem in remembrance of the good times of the past. It seems the small things always stick to our memory for a very long time with us.

Describing friendship in terms of snow and extending it to the warmth of a featherbed is unique. If one is surrounded by caring friends one certainly lives in a special cottage.

I got that warm cosy feeling when I read your poem! I grew up in rural Ireland, no electricity and no neighbours so I love walking by houses (real ones) with their lights on and the family together inside, warm and cosy. I loved 'Your featherbed of love'. Friendship is a wonderful thing and should be cherished.MaggieF
