This is a great bio poem for singer, song writer and humanitarian, Harry Chapin. One thing I love about your poem is that you explained what Chapin meant for and did for your by encouraging you to write. A book of his poems on your shelf is a strong image. The Whitney and an Ode forms of poetry you chose match his music. They also mimic the flow of free verse. This is a loving tribute.

Thank you for sharing. I wish you success in the contest.

Your poem is a great tribute to a man who's been in my heart since I first heard Taxi. WhT an incredible man he was, and your notes are great. I saw five of his concerts and also received a hug and signed copy of his poetry books. I have all of his albums and continue to play them all the time. Thanks for sharing your wonderful tribute.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

This is a wonderful tribute to Harry Chapin, a lovely flow throughout with some fantastic lines, I particularly enjoyed your last stanza.
He was a great story teller and a selfless human being who will always be remembered for the right reasons.
Have a lovely evening

'The great story teller
You strummed your guitar to life's trials
'A Better Place to Be' still brings tears to my eyes
Though' I know I've played it at least a million times'
Ans here you have told a magnificent story. It is really beautiful. A great testament to your friends life and a wonderful work I really hope this does well in the competition. kindest regards Meia x

I must admit I loved that song "cats in the cradle". I didn't know a fraction of the warm write up you gave him. I think a tribute to another person, deceased or alive, is the best gift a writer can give another. And yours is an exceptional one. Beautifully written notes, comprehensive and thoroughly honouring notes, plus the excellent poem, make it replete, well done, blessings, Roy

A lovely, touching and sincere tribute to Harry Chapin. I knew him as a singer only and then perhaps just a few of the better-known songs, but I am always delighted to hear how a 'star' has gone on to use fame in a positive way to help others.

Some keep their aid a secret, while other shout it to the world. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is very good imagery.

I'm dating myself here, but I remember all of that music. One of the things I liked about Harry was that he wasn't afraid to be different, and his songs meant something. I'm sure he'd appreciate this. Good luck in the contest.
