A Whitney and an Ode for an obviously much admired multi-talented passionate man. The Whitney is new to me. I like it.

You've done a good job honouring this man. How he as a person as well as his work has impacted you. The highest honour, in my opinion, being expressed in your closing lines:

"You made me a better woman
You made me love myself"

Wow.

Atmosphere is full of vivid and delightful descriptions. The arrangement is understandable and effective. Good theme. Nothing too serious. Kind of fun!
Nicely effective and impressive. Very well reflected thoughts and expressions.
The words you chose worked very well. Understandable and thought provoking but especially insightful comments.

It is perfectly written and completely error free.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

A very well-written poem and ode to a well-known singer who you met at his concert and his music and life story have a great impact on your life and still inspires you for years after his death.

This is a wonderful tribute to a multi talented individual. I saw Harry Chapin in concert twice and he also autographed his book of poems. I admire his songs and his ability to write stories in songs. Your words describe him well and his spirit comes through your poem.

I really enjoyed your tribute, especially in light of the profound effect it had on your life. My take in your poem is that the line that starts with but should be effect not affect, but maybe in America the rules are different.

Outstandingly written, a fitting tribute to this extraordinary man. As a professional musician, I have played "Cats in the Cradle" for years. At one point, I was playing on 20th Street here in Sacramento, California. A security guard walked up to me, ad I thought that he was going to tell me I had to go. But, with a tear in his eye, he approached reverently, and tipped me twenty dollars, explaining that that was his father, who had just passed away, and his song. He explained that his father whispered that he was there to enjoy it with him one last time. A chill went down my spine. He sid that I had "magical" fingers. That moment is etched on my mind as one of the most rewarding performances ever.
This writing is impeccable. Along with the image and author's note, which provides a lot of fascinating information which I was not aware of.
Bravo, worthy of six~!

Blessings,
Brother Badger

Harry's songs had a major impact on me. Within two months after his death, I left my controlling and abusive husband. Following the words of a 'Better Place to Be,' I knew there was more to life than what I was dealing with. I never looked back.
... As painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, authors, all lumped into one great big category and given the moniker of 'artists", we never know what sort of impact our work will have on someone else.
That's why I feel it's so very important to choose your words as well as your causes very carefully.

Thanks for the Harry Chapin biography, as well as the wonderful poem paying tribute to his talents.

Hi, This is an excellent bio poem. Your enthusiasm is admirable. You obviously loved this man. Your poem is very good. Harry had a profound effect on you and has made you write a very good poem along with good author notes. It is very sad the way he died. I have to confess I have not heard of him but he sounds like a nice man and this comes over in your poem and notes. I hope you do well in the contest and I wish you good luck. Warm regards Dorothy

It's a very moving tribute to Chapin that I think captures the essence of his soul, the things he believed in, the way he lived his life. you have a very solemn, reflective, respectful tone here that begs us to listen. Of course, having grown up on Long Island, I am very familiar with Chapin and his tragic story. They named the theatre in Eisenhower park after him, and still host summer concerts there in his honor. estory
