their scent happens to mimic the distinct stench of decomposing flesh, with a bit of old fish mixed in. (Someone on Facebook just asked fellow writers to describe rotting flesh. I looked it up. I didn't know about this plant.)
I like the second hypothesis, there are more of them.
I may be off for a while later in the week, we are moving. Lots to do. But I'll be back.

Now why on earth would you feel incompetent, Apky?
Thanks for reading (do you smell something?)...

Can't do haiku - at least incompetent in that. I'm greedy, like to be a jack - well, jean - of all treads!
No, I smelt nothing. Guess my olfactory system's incompetent too, hahahaha...
-
Sure you could, apky.
You could learn haiku if you really wanted to.
We have a lot of people who join our haiku club here on good old FanStory who had never written the first haiku in their lives.
Now some of those same poets will be published in the anthology that we're putting together and will be for sale on Amazon.com this summer.
Nothing is impossible if you wanna accomplish it.

Well, this deserves a 6. Because? It really stinks - Ba Ha Ha Ha Ha. I had one of these plants. I didn't know what it was. When it bloomed, I was quite surprised! Again, Ba Ha H Ha Ha.
Have a great day, friend.
Warm Regards,
Janet

I've heard of the corpse flower and it's less than pleasant odor. When my son was four he was sitting on his mother's lap and he smelled her perfume and said, "Mommy, you stink real good."

Hello, Dean,
Your phrase one and two connect well and the satori has a kick. Good job, honey. I hate the sound track but I turned the volume off. I would change it or take it off but that is just my personal taste.
The author notes are very informative and interesting. Thank you for sharing.

hehe it's a dildo conspiracy! but the smell is terrible lol
Interesting author's notes Dean I have never seen this flower before.
what is the plant's origin. All I know is they had to ban it from some nurseries because of female squatters! lol
I hated the sound of someone spewing it put me off initially but once they had finished I recovered. lol

Well, due to an overwhelming response to rid this site of the sound of retching, I have since removed the offending soundtrack, Dip.
Thanks for reading.
Have a great week...

I think you've been teaching Gypsy, there must be a site where one can pick up some unusual subjects, my son in law is Indonesian, so I've heard of this. Well done. Fantastic senryu Dean, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

Hi Dean,
First off, leave it to you to find a corpse flower lol It really begs this question... why on earth would you want to cultivate a putrid smelling flower in the first place?
I love the wit in your satori line. However, it is double entendre, is it not? If the botanists are cultivating these flowers, they truly are making the big stink.
Great job with this one!
Kim
