I know you were talking about this last night but something about this plant is ringing a bell in the back of my head. I have heard about it before. Just not sure when or where. Thank you for the great author's notes.
I like your haiku. It has all the correct syllables and tells about the Corpse Flower with or without the photo. Nice one!

They've been in the news a lot lately, Lura, at least around here.
Perhaps that's where you've been hearing about them.
Anyhow, thanks for the review.
I appreciate it.

I enjoyed reading your haiku "Corps flower bloom" which was my favorite 5-7-5, also the story of the flower. Though interesting I don't think I would have them growing in my garden.
Best of luck.

Nor would I, marybell1. They attract far too many flies for my taste.
Thanks for reading, and for the positive feedback as well.
It is appreciated.

This haiku is an amusing commentary on the rare event. Possibly the seeds were planted within months of each other, thus reaching the blooming stage after about the same interval. The expression on the pictured observer's face is amusing too. Your notes are helpful, and the time-lapse video is interesting to watch. Of course, the flower's name places it in your preferred genre. Well done.

It could be, Mike, but botanists are still trying to get to the...(wait for it...) ROOT of the phenomenon, heh-heh...
I crack myself up sometimes.
Thanks for reading.

This chap with his head almost in the flower must have no sense of smell. I've seen these on tele, most unusual and I love your last line Dean, very apt.

Hello, Dean;
-I'm familiar with this type of death flower that comes once upon a time but when it does odor is very pungently atrocious and marks the scent of death.
-Your haiku we freshens the understanding of this particular plant in the satori definitely is an aha moment of understanding and expresses the virility of the odor which is relative to the conceptual theme of this haiku.
-Thanks for sharing and take care and have a good one. I should say an excellent Haiga.

I saw this at OSU and was stuck dumb by it. The garden club from Westerville was there. I got more of a kick listening to their "EEEEEEECHHHHHH" comments than I did the flower. Super Haiku challenge about flowers. Thanks for the piano licks....enjoyed them, too, friend.

I like the combination of your accompanyong artwork, with the guy leaning in for a good smell and...
Your second line

I'm not sure if such a serious subject should give me a belly laugh, gut it did! (and I needed one today). The last line is a doozy! Thanks for sharing your creative energy on such an unusual topic! Caroline

Hahahaha, once I learned that it was okay to use humor in haiku, it was "game on" from there on out, Caroline, LOL.
Thanks very much for the fun review.

I had to laugh because I smelled one once and it is so true so the first two lines tell the tale of what the flower is leading to the punch line and the big stink...so true. Very cute
