This is a very wise greyhound and a very obvious statement about how bad discrimination is.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing.

This put a smile on my face, I really enjoyed reading this doggie story. Love the interaction you have going through three dogs. Structure wise it's solid and your words are strong that the reader wants to know the ending. I myself can't see how you could improve on this poem. My dogs are a a part of my family so can see the poodles point of paw.

a really cute poem about a dog who fears she's not up to snuffle cause she has a black print paw the new neighbor might not accept. Good characterization of all the dogs through dialog. Good social commentary from two dogs' points of view.

A great story and entertaining read. If only our pets could talk would they worry about their looks. A great contest entry thank you for sharing.

An involving poem about a vain, naive female obsessed with her looks. It's a familiar story when we anthropomorphize it. I know, you just wanted to keep it rated PG. A walk? No way! To Mr. Greyhound, she's purely poochtang. ;)
Excellent work, anonymous poet!

Okay, yeah PG. I think the poodle had more on her mind. Thanks for the read.

The personality of the poodle is developed very well in this poem and is in character for what I would think of a poodle's opinion of herself, which of course influences her opinion of others. The need for perfection is obvious and her need to impress the greyhound with her pedigree fits her personality. The greyhound has a nice nonchalance about him.

Love this! Great dialogue between the three. I like the repeated line, explaining why her paw is black, "You see, I'm considered one of the family." Sweet, that her humans include their beloved four-legged family member's signature paw print on their Christmas cards.
All the dog-characters are described well. I could visualize them all.
Mayzie, the snooty, hoity-toity, nose in the air type. The greyhound, elegant and refined, humble and aware. The poodle (adorable photo choice to accompany the poem!) is sweet and insecure and huggable. I was so happy the greyhound embraced her rather than judged her by one "blemish".
Enjoyed. :)

One animal's opinion of another is here direct, formal or traditional, it is interesting and humorous, rather funny, and how allegations are waived with pleas, Mr. Greyhound leads; I enjoyed the approach, sentiment and presentation in a good flow.
