A classic noir story with supernatural overtones. You do a great job of introducing the scene and mean Jack Wever. It's not long before we're rooting for the ghosts. Good ending with poetic justice and no suspects. But the contest rules say 500 words maximum. I hope you can find a way to trim 350 without spoiling your story.

Where does it say a word count??? I looked and looked and could not find so stuck to under 1000. Thanks for noticing but please let me know .

I can't believe I read that 17 times and couldn't see it for the life of me! Thanks-I will likely just pass on the contest-not sure can cut down that much. I started out shorter too, but since I couldn't see....And yes, I've had my eyes checked and no they are not good. LOL
