Wow! I really enjoyed learning about this Snow Apple. I'm guessing it's named for the white flesh. How fun that Robert Frost grew them. I guess Frost and "snow" are similar. Thanks for this excellent entry!

I enjoyed your story on the snow apple. It is a variety I have never seen or heard of--we do not have them at all in our part of the world. Your story is two-fold--one on the apple itself & two how the description also fits Mr. Frost.

Good job & thanks for sharing. Best wishes in the contest Jan.

i read and admired the "Robert Frost's Snow Apple." what sort of any criticism could be raised? It seemed a bit short and I wanted more. A taste perhaps of the actual
apple.

Hi Chrissy,
I enjoyed reading your story about the snow apple, I also enjoyed your notes about Robert Frosts Farm, a clever last line with the double meaning of his name.
Good luck in the contest. Mary

Hi Mary, Thanks for stopping by for a read. The whole prose was based on a double meaning about Frost the poet who is either liked or rejected and he lived to be quite an age before departing and wrote some great tantalizing poetry. Thanks for your good luck wishes We shall see LOL Cheers Christine😃🍎

Hi Gypsy, Thanks your so very much for reviewing this comtest entry. I was trying to capture Frosts traits with my words so a play on words rather than just a description of the Snow Apple although they are delicious. Hope all is goong well Cheers Christine😃🍎

I love the play on words with my favorite poet, Robert Frost.

Your description is really well done here. I've read dozens of these, and yours is the best so far. The word pictures--

"Although standing alone my harvests are still bountiful...."

"Some however find me a little sharp and consequently I have also been rejected." (Love this, but you need a comma before and after "however," and before and after "consequently.")

And my favorite: "branches now old and gnarled I have outlived my creator..."

Nice job.

This is one of the best "apple" stories I've read and wish you much luck in the contest. It reads very conversationally and is positive and upbeat.

Since it's a contest entry, you might want to adjust the grammar/comma usage.

Editing note -- Commas separate phrases within a sentence to allow the reader to absorb complex thoughts. They also make the story have a smoother flow.

Although standing alone, my harvests are still bountiful, producing tantalizing, juicy sweet tastes readily consumed.

Some, however, find me a little sharp and, consequently, I have also been rejected.

Use commas to separate multiple adjectives:
Being hardy, resilient, and versatile, I am still considered bright and red by many.

My appeal seems to be the deep. mysterious lines often seen as stains upon my pure, snow-white flesh. (snow-white is a compound adjective and needs the hyphen)

Standing the test of time, branches now old and gnarled, I have outlived my creator.

Use comma to set off introductory words or phrases:
With each passing winter, I still yearn for and enjoy a good Frost.

Thank you for sharing this piece about the Robert Frost apple. I've often seen them in the stores, and one of my neighbors told me they are great for baking. (The news is of little use to me - I don't bake.) But, they taste good and make a great snack. Thank you for sharing,
~patty~

A great descriptive short episode Christine. I must admit I'm not an authority on apples, but I have been to Bacchus Marsh, but I didn't know there was a "snow Apple", but I do now. I don't think it gets down to -20 or -30 in Bacchus marsh...maybe, not even in Balarat, although one of the most bitterly cold days I've experienced, was in a blizzard in Ballarat, well done Christine, good luck in the contest. Blessings, Roy

Hi Roy, Thanks for stopping by and if you ever come through Ballarat let me know. I don't know if there is still a SnowcApplecorchard in Bacchis Marsh any more as I havent had a Snow Apple for about 50 years bit this is a vivid childhood memory and I had no idea that Frost planted a tree until I was researching info for this. I tried to capture Frosts traits in my play one words so I appreciate you feedback . Hope all is well and have great day Cheers Christine😃🍎
