Hi Cass,

I am pleased to read this chapter and support your writing :) However, I'm not one to read erotic stories or poems. I skip the erotic parts, I'm sorry to say. I'm pleased this chapter is tame.

I am on my ipad mini so didn't make note of any spag I found. There were a few small issues in the early parts of this chapter. Mostly with the spacing between paragraphs. It could appear differently on each computer screen depending on the device used. So it could just be me.

Once the little spag issues cleared out, I found your writing to be quite good. This story is fascinating. I like your descriptions and can see everything you mention quite well.

I wish you well in this contest.

Joy xx

Dear Joy, Thank you for your review and the five stars. The characters in this story ARE fascinating. Anne of Cleves was a lot smarter than they gave her credit for, and I am using that as an aid in this story to show just how smart she was.(with a little artistic licence) the raunchy parts in the story don't begin until the third chapter, but once they start it's no holds barred. cheers Cass

There have been quite a few TV series here in Australia recently about Henry VIII and his wives. This is an interesting variation, telling the story from the point of view of Anne of Cleves. She certainly seems to have been an interesting character.
Your narrative style suits this kind of historical novel well. I have enjoyed reading this chapter and will see if I can follow the remainder as it appears. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on my Inbox messages!

Dear Tony, thank you for your review and the five stars. Anne of Cleves was a very capable woman, and not as empty headed as the history books have maintained. Henry wasn't the catch he thought he was. But that's telling isn't it? I do hope you enjoy the story, as it is my first foray into longer pieces. cheers Cass

Dear Sanku , thank you for your review and the five stars. No Anne of a thousand days was Anne Boleyn. the second wife. Anne of Cleves was the fourth wife. Jane Seymour the third wife died after having given Henry the longed for son Edward. He died when he was very young about 16 years old I think. I am glad you like the story so far There are several chapters to come.
The raunchy bits start in the third chapter, but wait and see how horrified you are before discarding it entirely. cheers Cass

Hi Cass
I really enjoyed reading this as i am from England and do follow history and my 17th GGF was Sir John Wright who was friends or at least was the Kings adviser.
You really brought in well how she was feeling on her journey. Well laid out.
Kind Regards Colin

Dear Colin, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Your comments are most welcome as they are what I hope for with this longer piece of writing. I have always been a producer of short pieces, poetry and essays, so this is something new for me.
I hope I can hold the readers' interest all the way though. cheers Cass

This ends at a very interesting point. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

I picked up a few points:
'knew she had been been in Mother's employ' - delete one 'been'.

She sipped a few mouth fulls - mouth fulls should be 'mouthfuls'.

'that I had insisted upon being included in my retinue.' - I might have put this as 'I had insisted were included in my retinue' or 'had insisted be included in my retinue'.

Dear Judy, thank you for your review and the five stars. Thank you also for your notes which I have acted upon. Nicely caught. Well done. This is a new kind of writing for me as hitherto I had usually written poetry or prose pieces about as long as an essay. So the next chapter should intrigue you more than somewhat. I sincerely hope it does at any rate. cheers Cass

Excellent story and because of it being riveting, the length was no problem. I adore
historical romances, mainly because they make learning history so palatable. I also have a deep interest in herbs and medicines created by women of that era. You are a fine writer and have chosen a craft you are well-suited for. Fine work.
