Thank you for adding another wonderful artwork and helpful notes. I enjoyed your showcasing the mysterious heron in this ensemble along with the poet who identifies with it. Cheers- Joan

He really is a great guy to know. I share in your
appreciation of him. I too like his alter-ego, and
often give the badger a higher score!
Your haiku at the end, though, was a real winner. -bill

A well-written piece. I liked the combination of story and poem and thought very well done. /while the first part sets the stage for the poem they compliment each other or could stand alone separately without the other.

-Beautiful artwork.
-Nice that you dedicated it to Douglas,
a great guy.
-Haibun is done very well; you manage
to get in a lot of vivid detail about him,
and Badger.
-The haiku is also done well.

I must admit I am not familiar with the work of Douglas Paul. That aside, I loved your prose which was beautifully written and your haiku peeked my interest in reading some of his work. Very nice work with this and thanks for sharing it with us.

HAHAHA! This is a super haibun about our Fearless Leader, DP. AND his sidekick, the Poetic Badger. Together, they make a force to be reckoned with, eh? Fun!
Note:
It's 'alter ego'. Thanks!

Gypsy You asked if I can --
tell what season of the year?
is it about nature or human nature? how is the presentation?
is it brief? meaningful? how does it make you feel? brings any memories?
I read you prose about Dogulas as human 'nature' and your
haiku about nature
Yes both were brief and clear
Yes, it brings memories
In the Summers here in Vermont on the lake where spend we spend many days
Stan and I have viewed this scene
Here we are at the lake
taking a restful break.
we hear a loon's call
we see a blue heron sitting tall
sinking into lily pads ~
we are, glad
we took a welcoming break
with solitude on a peaceful lake.
Yes I wrote the above poem
