A lovely Haiku. The documentary "March of the Penguins', which I'm sure you've seen, was unbelievable. Your poem painted just such a picture in my mind. Congratulations. Susan

That act is hard to follow and its said we are the master, I know if a woman could master it would be going bowling while hubby nested the new arrival, I salute the pequin but happy just like it is LOL.

Cute. If only the male of the species any species could be as reliable as the ole penguin and they are monogamous too. A well thought out haiku.

One problem... penguins are birds not mammals. Oops!!!

LOL!! I've gotten 30-some reviews and you're the only one to know penguins are not mammals. I sure thought they were. lol have to pull it from the challenge because the bird chapter is closed to submissions. Thanks for your review and telling me what a dork I am! LOL
    Thanks, Donya,

Not a dork. Just someone who loves our tuxedo-ed friends from a frozen world....

I have seen a documentary about Emperor Penguins and they certainly are amazing, particularly the males who watch over the eggs for such a long time.
Your haiku does such justice to these wonderful animals.
Have a lovely evening

Yes, the female lays a single egg, which is incubated by the male while the female returns to the sea to feed; the parents subsequently take turns foraging at sea and caring for their chick in the penguin colony. Thanks for a great haiku and picture.

I really like this one. Great choice of a subject for this challenge. Clear imagery in your first two connecting lines and a strong aha moment of insight in your satori. Well done, my friend

baby daddy

They are indeed remarkable animals, Karyn-
did you ever watch The March of The Penquins?
It made me see the creatures in a whole new light,
not just cute, but loyal and courageous.

baby daddy - I wondered if this should be the other way around -
daddy's bavy - or perhaps not -- what do you think?

I'm pleased you enjoyed my penguin haiku, Margaret. Thank you for your kind encouragement and response. Another reviewer mentioned March of the Penguins...I'd like to see it."be your daddy" is common slang here in the US for a Dad who usually isn't married to the baby's mother.

Great subject for your Haiku. These creatures endure some of the harshest weather on earth and almost die of starvation and exposure protecting their offspring. A truly remarkable feat for any species. Great job.
