I enjoyed reading your poem. It flowed and rhymed nicely. I was in the Air force, but in war time. - I was't born then. But I understand the harshness of war and how many thousands of lives were ruined.
Best of luck.

Hi friend, whether this true or not ,I do not know but it is sad ,very sad ....to be dumped. It makes it worse when you are in the army.it is definitely a great turmoil of emotion rising..despair, end of the road for life.as fot the writing it is definitely a great conveyer of both emotion and sad dramatic beauty.

A marvellous 'Dear John' letter you have written from 'John's point of view, a clever move as it makes the reader sympathise with him even more. A poignant and heartfelt write well done kindest regards Meia x

A very well-written sad poem. It.must be hard to get the dear john letter while serving the country. I hope she made the right choice for her sake. I am sure you found someone more deserving at the end.

Thank you, for letting me know. I am feeling sorry for her bad choices. Sometimes we are just too blind to see what is right in front of us.

This is a poignant, quite heart rending poem delivered so well. How awful it must have been and I can't imagine how soldiers like you coped. The Harley bit cheered me a little. More speech marks needed in line 20. I think your rhymimg works really well. Susan

Very emotionally charged write, and sad. It flowed nicely line to line, the rhyme was wonderful. Gave a mental picture of the soldier reading the letter, poor soul. I really thought this was thought provoking. Nicely written

And it all probably worked out in your favor, I hope. At least the Harley sounded fun!! A very interesting story. I always thought that was rather cruel, to dump a guy who may be going into battle. Excellent, as always!!! Blessings...

As usual, very entertaining Jaybird. Those dear John letters came often during the service years, thank God blessed you and protected you and allowed you a much better life without her. Texas is still beautiful.
