Well, I'm so surprised I didn't review this last year! What an entertaining story you've written, and all in wonderful rhymes and lilting meter. I grew confused when I read that the speaker had also taken his life in the lake. Yet he's writing, and perhaps I'm to assume he's reincarnated or something, but it was never clear to me. I would have to offer that as my only criticism. I loved reading the exciting story. It was well-done and a true fairy tale indeed. Come back Irish! You are missed here.

Thank you so much for your in-depth review! The story was bombshell that was conceived and written complete in my feverish brain in a few moments, then I could not write it down fast enough to keep up with the dictation. Odd, eh what?
But glad you enjoyed! I have less than a year to work, many stories out lined with no time to devote the time they deserve finish them.

I read this gladly, irish. More for the two stories. I am, you know, a storyteller. Not to say I don't appreciate the poetry. Just that I'm intrigued by both stories--the one you tell, the one you allude to.
The story you tell is rich in Celtic tradition. Class over love. Always a heartrending choice. And it always ends tragically--even if you did try offer an alternative ending.
But it's the story you allude to that interests me the most. This muse from a different life. See, I believe you. I believe you, irish, feel a connection to a woman from a past life. I believe this poem is the truth, as close as you can tell it.
Well done, my friend.
Peace, Lee

Your exquisite ability to tell a story, in prose and poetry, is such a delightful reward for your readers, Irish. Your lady muse must have some Irish blood in her noble veins. Your poem isn't long, it's perfect story length as you tell the tale of love, union, pain, death and reunion. An entertaining and enjoyable story written with your perfect choice of words. It's always a joy to read you, Irish!
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

IAM,
This was definitely an interesting story in a poem - you should have entered it into the contest with that name - there's always one going on. *smile* But I did enjoy it. Thanks!

Life can indeed be harsh and cruel when the hearts and minds of people are controlled and commanded by duty rather than the natural state of our hearts. How many lives have been ruined because people marry out of duty to a parent or a family rather than for the only reason to marry at all, love.

Dear Irish, the story unfolds within the muse and the lady. I liked the build up of this one, the innocence that fires the spirit and the body. It has a way of capturing life and the twists and turns life so often takes us on...but always there is the Lady, the muse that calls to you alone.
Well penned.
Thanks for sharing, my friend.

Well, good for the Lady Irish for keepin' ya on track for such a lengthy poem, irishauthorme.
This is a despondent poem about innocence, loss of innocence, coming of age, betrayal, broken hearts, and, ultimately, suicide.
Hey, now THAT's what I call...entertainment!
You just can't get any better than this...

A very well-written story poem. So many lovers that actually belong together are for some reason o another kept apart, either because of their class differences or other issues that others decide about what is best for the young.
