Hayley, you made my day! In two ways. Your generous flattery caused me to blush a bit under my beard, I think (that's not one of the ways). It's very meaningful to me that my work was rewarded with the knowledge that it found its way to someone willing to figure it out while appreciating its nuances. (I doubt I'll be that lucky with a denser piece I just posted.)
The other thing making what you did doubly gratifying was voting the way you did, which gained me a tie for second place in the contest. Ain't it nice to be appreciated?

You have completed the challenge of the contest well. your artwork was well chosen and added to the loneliness of the words. The words flowed well line to line combining and sending the message of the poem to the reader.

What a funny poem! I usually don't care for free verse, but this one sucked me in. And the twist at the end was delightful. Skillfully set up to make the reader think we are sympathizing with a human. LOL!
