I can relate to this. With things I've tried to overcome, then backed away from. It's much easier if you just take the first step! This is a beautiful poem, great rhyme! Blessings...

yes mountains are for climbing and you present it well the emotions of fear and anxiety that you have to address and the courage it takes to move past ones fears and be able to enjoy the expansive view

Connie,
What a delightful poem about overcoming obstacles and the rewards that come your way at the mountain-top! This was such fun! I enjoyed - as usual, with your writing! Thanks!

Excellent marks for the message. Facing fears head on is often the best way to overcome them! I especially liked the third stanza. The notion that you could feel a call forward despite an ingrained fear demonstrates the ambivalence that we sometimes have to struggle against. I've often felt a pull toward things that fear me.
Nice meter, and an interesting rhyming pattern.

I loved your poem of making that extra effort. It can be so rewarding, and encourages you to see just how far you can go. (within reason).
Best of luck.
