Great poem filled with sadness, but so glad you posted daughter's back and manages your business. That gives a feeling of happiness. Thanks for sharing Jaybird.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Yes, she left before her time,
changing patterns with life's rhyme;
Left our nest, in love, unschooled
and I judged her sadly fooled.
This poem moved me to tears, you have the power to do that to me, not many writers have. The pathos in this is all encompassing. Its an amazing and superb read, I adored it and am therefore awarding it six stars.Kindest regards, Meia x

This poem expresses the helplessness of any parent whose child impulsively leaves home at an early age. The parent, like the speaker here, blames himself and/or lives with fears hoping she'll be okay. I like the verse "she's in cadence with life's cadence."

I can identify with this when my daughter left home an hardly visited me, but like you she returned and now I see her as often as I can, lovely rhymes, flow and I love the first and last lines which complete the picture, love Dolly x

Your poem describes those family rifts that separate. We have no choice but to let them go. They will come back when ready. I like the repetition of your key line which unifies the piece. Well rhymed and smooth. Marilyn
