Thank the Lord the daughter came back. Seventeen is way too young to leave family, home, all the comfort and wisdom of the parents. But so many do it. My husband's sisters - most of them did this - and it didn't always end well.

Wow... So touching. Glad to know she's back and well. Here in Nigeria, we still have a lot of people who encourage child marriages. Not like 17, I mean like 13. It's quite appalling.
I enjoyed this poem. Thanks for sharing!

Father could never forget her emotion, he still remembers the days, the moments when his only daughter gone in matter of her marriage, then years gone, she got married and schooled and done everything, now father remembers the specific moment; well said, well done.

Hello jaybird. I found the message of this poem to be a little sad is a daughter left home early. Clearly the early departure was unexpected. Again your rhyme and meter are excellent. Robert

There's that advice to teenagers "leave home now while you still know everything. As I started reading your poem, hAving lost two children, I was afraid she was gone permanently. So relieved when I got to the end! Your words flowed nicely and your thoughts and feelings really came through.

So I guess papa was right about that one. You describe the situation well in this poem. It is a blessing that things worked out in the end, but they often do. Thanks for sharing.

Your words touched my heart and soul, from the first line to the last.
I could feel your love for her in line.
How bless you are to have that bound with her, many parents wish they had with their child or children
Cookie.

This is so tenderly beautiful. The emotions you share about a father's love for a daughter is touching. It is not easy to watch our children as they make their mistakes, but so necessary for them to learn from them. I'm glad to know it all worked out well in the long run. xoxo
