True Friends

Its got some merit. There are repetitive thoughts about friends though. After the dash at the end you are continuing a thought so lower case needed for "true" here.
A more detailed analysis of your own friendships would improve the piece because we all have good and bad thoughts about friends. My friends have been back stabbers so I don't have any now.

Your last line sums up the message in your lovely poem. So often people think that friends can be bought. Definately not true. Take care. Jen

I have friends from my first day of school still. Younger people are amazed that I have had friends for so long. They don't make friends today like they used to. I have wonderful friends and am grateful for them all. I also have great co-workers all much younger, that are so good to me. Love them all. This is a great tribute to friendship. There are few things better than a good friend. Rox

Your lovely, moving sonnet conveys a powerful theme that is timeless and universal. Friendship is one of the greatest blessings the Lord allows us to have. We must never take it for granted.

As we go through life, sometimes we are only able to male it with the love we receive from true friendships. May your weekend be blessed.

My sister and I have been going through a lot of old family papers lately that we're so glad that people wrote down. One of my ancestors wrote how his children had been nagging and nagging him to write down all these things about his life and so here it finally is so they'll stop. I thought that was quite funny. It was back in the 1800s. All I can say is I'm so thankful for his nagging children! Otherwise, we wouldn't know the first thing about his life. After he wrote the things he thought we 'ought' to know. He just kept a daily journal on the rest of the pad he'd written on... not wanting it to go to waste I suspect. I have the days of a 90-year-old man in the 1800s. He was in good health and of sound mind. It makes for interesting reading. I'm making copies of everything as this penmanship is getting difficult to read, I'm sure my son's generation would never be able to read it! It's beautiful handwriting, the kind they don't teach anymore. :)

You know your way around a sonnet! This one has an ease of reading that suggests (I won't assume) you can do this form in one draft with minimal tweaking. Lovely content too. I suppose it doesn't matter that a lot of my friends have four legs.

favorite line - True friendship is a given, never bought. I believe that as well. and they are few and far between. I always say- a friend is someone you can call at 4 am if you are in trouble. your note brings a valid point as well. thxs for sharing

What a beautiful poem about friendship. I really liked the conclusion of your story:"Care for the friends, along the way you sought-
True friendship is a given, never bought." Sometimes our friends are miles away, but thanks God we have them. This reminds me of an old Bulgarian song:"I don't need to many friends, it's enough to have one, two or three, friends that are there when you need them."

A Sonnet declaring the true delights of meaningful friendship - a precious gift indeed and never more than now in our 'fake' world - thanks for reminding us of what must be golddust !
